It was inappropriate, but I couldn't help but stare at his lips. His golden skin glistened in the early morning light, as I admired him. Alpha Quinn Danvers. A man with a soul as beautiful as his face.

I had told him everything about Drew and Abel, and he'd done nothing but hold me and let me cry in his arms. I'd then fallen asleep in his hold, somewhere in my breakdown, but he'd carried me to bed and tucked me in under my covers. He'd slept on my couch, my spare blanket over his body.

I left him sleeping, as I crept past him and into the kitchen where I quickly began to make coffee and eggs for breakfast. Butterflies were fluttering inside my stomach as I cooked, thinking of how much Quinn had cared and looked after me the night before. I'd not let anyone be that close to me in years, I'd forgot how good it could be to be with people.

As I was finishing cooking, Quinn woke up. He strolled into the kitchen, running a hand through his messed hair. Once more my eyes admired the view, before I remembered he was an Alpha, and looked away. I was shocked that I was feeling desire for Quinn, as I had never felt desire for anyone since Drew.

"Morning" I grinned at him, blushing softly as he glanced over the Mickey Mouse pyjamas I had changed into.

"Morning, darlin. How are you feeling now?" Quinn smiled at me.

"Better" I replied bashfully. "I'm sorry about yesterday...I'm embarrassed that you had to see me like that".

Quinn waved his hand dismissively, "nonsense. I'm very happy you shared all that with me. Maybe in the future, when you're feeling down, you can come to me again. I don't want you to see me as your Alpha, Ruth, but as your friend".

I smiled softly at him, before dishing up two eggs on some toast. "Here you go" I said, handing him the food. He thanked me before taking a seat at the island and digging in. I served myself a plate before sitting down opposite him and eating too.

I was eating quietly trying to stop myself from sneaking glances at Quinn as I did so. But, when I finally did glance up, Quinn was already looking at me. Our eyes met and I quickly looked back down at my food, blushing like an idiot.

There was just something about Quinn Danvers that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Something that had butterflies fluttering inside my stomach and blood raising to my face. I felt like I did when I had my first crush in school. I remembered who that crush was, how could I not?

Andrew Jones. Drew had been a year older than me and when I walked in on my first day of middle school and saw him in his Football jersey, laughing with his friends, I had practically turned to jelly at his feet. I had looked at him and my head had spun. I was too young to know we were mates at that time, neither of us had Shifted, but I was so taken with him that I could barely speak when he was around me.

And that was how I felt around Quinn. Like a fourteen year old girl who'd just developed a new crush on a boy way out of her league. And at the time of my crush over Drew, he had been out of my league as I was going through some bad puberty that had me covering up my body and covering my spotty face. But, with Quinn, he was out of my league because he was an Alpha and I was nothing but a lowly Pack Wolf.

After we finished eating, I grabbed the plates and loaded them into the dishwasher. Quinn sighed as he glanced at his wrist watch. "I guess I better go".

"Of course, an Alpha like you must be very busy" I smiled back, slightly sad that he was leaving.

"I was actually thinking that you must be needed at work. I can take the morning off if I want to" Quinn replied back. His smile was slightly sad but it held understanding, and I didn't understand how I knew that from his smile. Perhaps it was just that I could read Quinn better than I expected or maybe I was just wishful.
