【五】 injured

despite the hundreds of security paid to look out for idols, it's inevitable that they're to get hurt at times. it just so happened that one of those times involved dayoung. nct 127 had just finished performing 'touch' and while they waited for one of the technicians to fix mark's muted mic, the members decided to talk to the fans.

"are you guys having fun?" taeil asked the crowd, earning cheers of approval.

on the left side of the stage, haechan and dayoung stood near the edge as they messed around with each other. the distance between the platform and the audience was thin, only having a couple of bodyguards protecting the two from aggressive fans.

but as dayoung was pushed closer to the edge, it gave allowed a girl to be in arm's reach of the singer. she got a hold of dayoung's forearm and sent her stumbling off the stage. haechan's laughing expression instantly turned into concern as he hopped down to help her back up. the guards pushed the gate back as much as they could, going against the strength of thousands of fans.

"dayoung!"

the other 127 members rushed to the scene. haechan was tending to the youngest who was holding her knee in pain.

"angel, are you okay?" he asked her, clenching his jaw as he glanced in the direction of the fan that pulled her. he let "oh my god"s slip out of his mouth repeatedly, tucking his right arm carefully under her knees and used his left to support her back.

haechan turned back to the members who were shaking with worry, "stay here! i got her!" he had shouted before running backstage.

"what happened?!" lucas ran over to the two and once haechan put dayoung down on the sofa and went to look for someone a part of the medical team, he ran his hand through the injured girl's hair as a way to comfort. "hey, hey, hey."

as all of the other members of dream and u were entering the room behind the staff, lucas tried to help her steady her breathing, holding and caressing dayoung's cheek with his free hand.

"you're okay, baby. you're okay," he told her in a soft voice. "can you tell me what happened?"

after a few deep inhales and exhales, dayoung felt her hand being grabbed by ten who, along with everyone else, was waiting for her answer.

"i-i don't know," she said. "donghyuck and i were just playing around and then i felt someone pull me off stage."

haechan squeezed between ten and the couch, linking his arms around his dongsaeng's neck. "i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have pushed you that far. if i didn't, the fan would've never been able to reach you and you'd be okay and not hurt—"

"you're not the one to blame," dayoung replied. "it's not like i'm dying."

the staff member stood up from her kneeling position when she finished putting a band-aid on the wound and covering it with beige medical wrap.

"it doesn't look like it's hurt too seriously. since it's a gash and it'll be bruised for a while, we might have to have you take a break for some time," she said. "just make sure you resist putting weight on it."

by the time she ended her sentence, the rest of nct 127 were crowded together in the room to check on their bandmate.

"so she's alright?" taeyong asked the nurse with his motherly personality coming out.

she nodded in response and all of the boys sighed in relief.

for the next few weeks, they acted as if dayoung's knee injury was more serious than it actually was. they helped her everywhere and they wouldn't allow the girl to be by herself just in case she needed something, especially haechan.

when dayoung was fully recovered, haechan didn't care. he continued to stay by her side constantly, using, "what if you get hurt again and no one's there?" as his excuse.

ok probably could've made this clearer but it was an nct concert lol hence why lucas was there, it was just 127's performance
