New In Town

Shit Happens. I Mean Look At Your Face.

The ride to my house was pretty uneventful but when we got there was a completely different story.

"Who's this?" Danni asked as we walked in the door.

"Oh, Danni. I didn't realize that you would be home this early. Um, this is my new friend Nik. Nik, this is my older sister Danni."

"Is Nik short for Nicolas?"

"Um, no. It's short for Nikolai." Nik told her.

"Hmm." Danni hummed in response. "And what is he doing here?"

"I was going to shower from softball practice and then we were going to go to his house to hang out with three of his friends."

"And what are these friends' names?"

"Enzo Bassani, Anthony Price, and Landon York." Nik replied.

"Be home by 3am or you loose the car." Danni turned on her heel and walked out of the room.

"Okay, well, you can wait in my room I guess. Follow me." I said, feeling really awkward after the confrontation with my sister.

We silently walked up the stairs to my room. When we stepped in, Nik looked at the numerous drawings covering the walls.

"Wow, these are really good."

"Eh, they are okay, I guess." I shrugged and started gathering my clothes for after my shower. "Don't you dare try anything or I will castrate you." I warned, walking into the connected bathroom. I quickly showered and got dressed. I also blow dried my naturally curly hair, letting the dark brown locks fall to my waist. I decided against makeup. My outfit was a pair of short denim shorts, a Misfits skull tank top, and a pair of bright purple converse. I walked out of the bathroom to see Nik laying on my bed just looking through my Junior High yearbook, 7th grade I think.

"Aww, look a little Avelon. You were really cute back then but your hair was really lo-" He cut himself off when he finally looked away from the yearbook. "I've only seen it in a bun and a braid. Is that natural?"

"Yeah. Like I would spend this long on my hair for you and the guys. You know how long that takes? Seriously an hour and a half." I scoffed at the thought. "Alright. Will I need anything?"

"We were planning on swimming so grab a bathing suit."

"Okay." I grabbed my teal bow bikini top with its matching bottoms. "I'm ready to go."

We walked outside and decided to take my car and leave his here. "I want to make sure you get home safely plus you don't know your way around town yet."

"Okay then." I didn't question his motives even though I really should've.

It took about twenty minutes to get to Nik's house considering he lives in a mansion on the outskirts of town. Lucky little shit. When we pulled up, Enzo, Tony, and Lan were waiting for us on the front porch. All three sets of eyes widened when I stepped out of the car.

"Damn, who knew Avelon was so... hot." Tony said. Despite my attempts to stop it, blood rushed to my cheeks.

"Look Tony, you made her blush." Lan pointed out, laughing his ass off like the smug little bastard that he is.

"Shut up." was the only thing I could manage to get past my lips. God, what a feeble attempt.

Thank goodness Nik spared me from further harassment by leading me into the house. "Careful. I have two rottweilers. Earl and Babe. Babe should be fine but Earl isn't too keen on metting new people."

Just as the words came out of his mouth, the two dogs came bounding toward me. While Nik and the others backed up, I stood my ground. I put my hand up as if to say 'stop' and suprizingly, they listened. Both stopped right in front of me and even sat when I pointed at the ground. After that, I let out a breath that I was unknowingly holding in.
