After finishing their lunch, Charlie and Daisy walked back to her dorm. The building was somewhat out of the way for Charlie, but he had insisted on walking with her despite the cold weather.

"Can we walk any faster?" Daisy questioned, shivering. Charlie laughed, though she did feel bad for the smaller girl. He swore that the air had gotten much colder while they were eating.

"I don't know, Daisy, I'm enjoying the weather," he replied, dramatically looking at his surroundings. She simply shook her head, smiling.

From there, it didn't take them long to arrive at Daisy's dorm. Daisy stopped in front of it, turning to Charlie.

"Thank you for meeting with me," she told him, and he couldn't help but smile.

"Likewise. Jake is really lucky," Charlie told her. He hadn't meant that in quite the way it had come out, but he hoped that she understood what he was trying to say,

"I want to meet him, Charlie," she said, somewhat suddenly. "I mean it."

Charlie smiled. "That's great. I would tell him, but you should probably tell him that yourself. I know he'll want to hear it from you."

Daisy tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "Thank you for what you said earlier, too. It really helped me out."

"Of course, Daisy. I have a question for you, though." He paused, and he took the silence as a key to continue. "Do you have feelings for him?"

She paused, thinking for a moment. "I think I do. I've never really liked anyone, and I've never actually met him so it's hard to figure out how I feel, but I'm sure there's something there. Please don't tell him that."

Charlie nodded. "I won't, I promise."

"Thank you," she told him again.

"You don't have to keep thanking me, Daisy. I'm your friend. It's what I do," he told her, making a spontaneous decision to hold his arms out for a hug. Hesitantly she stepped towards him, giving him a quick and slightly awkward hug. For some reason, Charlie's heart raced.

"I'll see you soon, yeah?" she asked once she had pulled away.

"Yeah," Charlie replied simply, a little confused on why his own body had reacted the way it did.

Daisy smiled brightly, waving. "Bye, Charlie."

It was then that Charlie realized that Daisy's smile was adorable. He muttered a short 'bye' before turning around and walking away. As he did so, the only thought on his mind was, well shit.
