About a week after their loss, the Chara's held an end of season party for the Bruins players and their wives/girlfriends. Jake and Daisy, of course, attended. Sure, it was bittersweet that the season was ending, but they were both happy to see the whole team once more before they all left to enjoy their summers.
There was no Mario Kart at Zdeno's house, but there was corn hole, so Jake and Daisy settled on playing that. Jake insisted that they play on different teams, so Daisy had teamed up with Charlie and Jake had dragged David Pastrnak into the game.
Daisy, as they all quickly discovered, was awful at corn hole. She almost felt bad for Charlie, but he was good enough at it for the both of them, so she wasn't too worried about it. Still, he wasn't as good as the combination of Jake and David, so the duo ended up losing by a fair amount.
"Good job," Jake teased, high-fiving her.
"Yeah, thanks," she replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes. Her eyes moved over to David, who was opening his mouth to whisper something to Charlie. He immediately looked embarrassed and Daisy wondered what David had said to him.
She brushed the thought off and continued to enjoy the party. It wasn't until later that night that she was reminded of it when someone asking Charlie if he had his eyes on anyone.
"Not really," he replied, shooting a glance at Torey, which was slightly odd because he hadn't asked the question.
From next to Torey, David spoke up, "Wait, I thought you liked Dai--"
Torey slapped his hand over David's mouth, but it was too late. Daisy had heard enough of her own name to know that David had been talking about her. Torey looked over at Daisy in horror as she looked over at Charlie. He stared at David in shock for a moment before getting up and quickly leaving.
