"What is this year's prom theme?" Lena asks Mia as they are currently sitting at Tommy's. Two, untouched strawberry milkshakes rest on front of them while they stare at their phones. Another good thing about Tommy's: free WiFi.

Mia doesn't take her eyes off her iPhone as she speaks. "Victorian era, I think."

"So that means I'll have to wear a fancy, old dress? Great," Lena says, rolling her eyes and finally taking a sip from her milkshake.

"You'll have to attend fancy no matter what theme, dummy," Mia adds, putting her phone down. She throws her curly, black hair behind her and grabs the milkshake, never actually tasting it.

"What's wrong?" Lena says, nodding at Mia's still-full dessert. "You can get something else."

"I'm fine. It's just that this has like a thousand calories and I want to fit my dress perfectly." She touches her Kim Kardashian curves with both hands. Good thing hers are actually real.

"Don't exaggerate!" Lena chuckles, taking another sip. As she feels the cold liquid going down her throat, it hits her. "Wait, you're going to prom? Who asked you?" She puts the milkshake down and leans forward, closer to Mia, smiling wide.

"It's going to sound stupid but I'm going with Wyatt Carter," she confesses, twisting a napkin with her thin, delicate fingers.

"You know he's gay, though, right?" Lena mentions.

"Duh." Mia tilts her head a little to the right, her curls raining down mesmerizingly on front of her for the second time. She looks up at the colorful, polka-dot-covered ceiling with her big, brown eyes and smiles.

"Gosh!" Lena knows those sweet movements and her eyes widen. "You're falling for him."

"What? No!" Mia chirps, sticking her bottom lip out.

"Don't lie to me," Lena insists. "It's obvious."

Mia scoffs, lowering her eyes to the table. "Maybe I am."

Lena opens her mouth. "But he's gay—"

"I know! It's not like we are going to make out or even date," Mia tries to defend herself. "We are just going to attend prom together. Besides, we've been talking for a while."

"And you know what?" Lena looks out the window, the street is full of vehicles and the sun is starting to settle.

  "What?" Mia questions.

"Tony is going, too." Lena raises both eyebrows. "Mia, you and I are sitting in the same table."

  "Obviously," Mia says.

"Tony is also sitting with us," Lena explains, pointing at the two of them.

"Who cares? Wyatt will probably be with his friends all night." Mia tries to shrug it off, but Lena is worried. She doesn't want Tony to be uncomfortable just because his ex is going to be sitting at the same table. Imagine how awkward that would be?

"Ok," Lena agrees, finishing the milkshake. "So hitting on a gay guy, I see."

Mia covers her face while grinning. "I'm pathetic. Admit it?"

"You are," Lena jokes, bursting out laughing.

Mia also laughs out loud, throwing napkins at Lena. "Shut up! It's not my fault he's hot."

  Lena continues chuckling.

"Why are the gay guys hot? I mean, Tony is also hot and extremely cute with his glasses," Mia adds, squeezing her own cheeks.

Lena finally calms down and rests a hand on top of Mia's. "There are so many attractive guys out there."

Mia smiles before Lena finishes. "And let's not mention that they're probably also gay."

"Lena!" Mia yells, laughing all over again.

The girls are at the mall in the center of town, holding about five bags on each hand. The sun is already down but it won't close until about another hour. They are searching for the perfect victorian dress without luck.

"We are covered it clothes, but not for prom," Mia notes as they get into another shop.

"I don't think they sell those kind of dresses here. We should just take normal ones," Lena says, picking up a turquoise skirt and examining it.

She looks around and comes face to face with a guy staring at her from the glass window. Her heart stops beating and her lips start to wobble.

  Rowan?

She feels her hands go weak, dropping all the bags she was carrying. The sound of the material hitting the tiles erupts all around the store. An old lady checking some bras gets scared as she screams at the loud noise.

"What's going on?" Mia turns around, holding her own bags. She looks at the bags resting on the floor. "You should've just told me to help you. I knew they were too heavy."

She starts to kneel down to pick up the clothes, but Lena interrupts her. "I just dropped them by accident. I'll get them."

Mia stands up, shrugging and continuing to check out other items. Lena's hands shake as she puts the clothes into their bags and carries them back up. She's almost a hundred-percent sure it was him. She dares to look back at the window where he was, but he's no longer there.

Was it her imagination making stuff up? No, it was him. The exact same, green eyes and sharp jaw she has memorized since ninth grade. He was also wearing a black hoodie that hid his face making her doubt if it was actually him at all.

Her guts tighten. A feeling she usually gets when she's right. At this moment, she wishes she wasn't.
