Chapter 13 (Goodbye Friendship)

ROSS

I can't believe The Populars want me to be part of their group! It's one of my dreams to be famous like them. When you're a popular everything changes. Everyone will recognize you, everyone wants to become you and most of all, everyone will like you.

Right now I'm walking to the usual spot where me and my other friends meet up during dismissal. I'm sure they'll be super happy as I am.

Laura: ''Where were you Ross?! We've been waiting for almost 30 minutes!''She said mad.

Ross: "Yeah I know but I have a good reason! And you'll be happy with the news." I said excitedly.

Laura: ''Really?'' She said sarcastically.

Ellie: Just tell the news!

Ross: "Okay...Okay." I took a deep breath. "The Populars want me to be a part of them and I said YES!" I said excitedly and happily.

All of them chhered and greeted me a "Congratulations". My friends were super happy for me, except for one. LAURA.

Ross: Laura... Why are you not smiling? Aren't you happy for me?

Laura: "Well... Honestly I'm happy for you, I know you've alwaysnwantednto be a popular, but..." She trailed off.

Ross: But what?

Laura: "But I'm afraid that when you'll be popular you'll forget us... you'll forget me..." "I'm afraid I'll lose you." She said the last part softly but I still heard what she was saying.

LAURA:

There I said it! I honestly don't want Ross to join the Populars. One, he will be closer and spend more time with Megan. Two, I'm sure the populars will change him. And Three, I'm afraid he won't be friends with me and he would leave me.

I came back to the reality when I noticed Ross was walking towards me and out of nowhere he hugged me and said "No matter what happens I'll ALWAYS be YOUR Ross and you'll ALWAYS be MY Laura."

I smiled at his short but sweet response. I was contented and assured. I hugged him back tightly. I blushed the whole time and we stayed like this for a couple of minutes.

Ellie: *fake coughs* Excuse me to you lovebirds but it's getting really late. We should get going.

Ross and I awkwardly pulled away from our 'forever-long hug'. And we all walked home happily, laughing at our own jokes and stories.

-Next Day-

As I arrive at school I saw students at the sides of the hallway, making an aisle. I was at the center of the aisle when the populars walked in. I move at the side so that they can pass. I saw Ross and called his name, he didn't looked back. I tried calling his name again louder this time but still, he didn't look back. Slowly they began to disappear in my sight. I walked to my classroom, all alone and lonely.

Days pass by the same thing always happen...he ignored me. I mean we hangout sometimes but not as often as we used to. He apologizes during the first times he ignored me so I forgave him but now I don't know...

Right now I'm with my friends eating lunch together when Ross suddenly sits next to me.

Ross: Hey Guys!

They all greetrd him cheerfully while I, was not so happy about it.

Laura: "It's a miracle you're here". I murmured.

I think he heard it but gladly he ignored it, ... I think. He talked to us for the longest time he ever had with us since he became a popular. I think he's back to his own self...

NOT.

I saw Megan coming to us.

Megan: Hey Ross can I talk to you?

He looked at us for a second but afterwards he said 'Yes'. He said goodbye to us and left with Megan. And that was really the GOODBYE... to OUR FRIENDSHIP.
