Chapter 14
I lean my back against the wall and am about to send him a smart ass remark but my words dry up when I see the anger behind his eyes.
He slams a fist next to my head against the wall, making me cringe inside but I keep my exterior calm.
"Where is it?!" he whispers forcefully and stares straight into my eyes, the usual calm cool and happy person I know replaced with someone else.
"I don't know what your talking about." But as soon as the words leave my lips, realisation dawns on me.
Reece had given me money so I could get him his stash. I had gotten it but... well, I guess I had blindly left it at Ethan's without a second glance.
Who knows if it's still there.
He takes in a deep breath and closes his eyes.
"Don't lie to me." He says calmly, eerily calm.
"Right, well, you see I didn't skip out on you or anything." I murmur, picking what I say carefully. "I bought your part but ran into some complications along the way, so I was unable to deliver it, but now that all that has passed, I will be able to pick it up again and bring it to you by the end of this week. Promise."
He stares at me a moment longer, probably wondering if he can trust me or not. Once he is satisfied and the bell rings over our heads, Im able to slip out the door in silence and breath properly again, I hadn't even realized how restricted my lungs had been.
Without looking back, I rush through the halls, stop on the way to gather some English books and eagerly make it to class.
Now I was only eager because I was finally able to be by Ian's side again and once my eyes find his, I sigh in relief, my worries fading.
Maybe I'm starting to rely a bit too much on his company.
He slips an arm around my waist and hugs me from behind, leaning his head on my shoulder.
"Why'd you have to see the principal?"
I shrug and make sure he can't see my face, in case he realises Im lying. "Just work stuff."
I feel him nod lightly and his lips brush along my neck, making me shiver and close my eyes in content. I suddenly remember we are surrounded by people and force myself to push away, sending him a glare but he just grins like a fool and looks ahead as the teacher arrives.
English is almost over when the teacher decides to hand out scores for something, I frown and watch as Ian is handed a piece of paper, his face scrunches up in confusion, he doesn't look impressed at all.
Ms jones comes to my desk and sighs. "I was hoping better from you this year Anna."
I look down at the sheet as she walks away and gasp in realisation. The assignment, or essay... something important I was suppose to work on with Ian. It would have actually been done if all that stuff with Ethan, dad and Ian hadn't happened. We could get a second chance though... Right? I mean an E- is a bit harsh considering the circumstances... Not that they know what really happened but still.
We had to. This would look horrible on Ian's record and what about future collages and university's. Not to mention how his parents will react. They will be mortified and no doubt blame it all on me, probably even say I ruined their perfect boy with promising plans.
I guess I could take most the blame and try to get Ian a second chance. I can't help but feel responsible for it. I need to fix this.
I look up at Ian's seat, he looks back at me briefly and I try to send him a reassuring smile but he doesn't notice before he turns away.
