Brook pov

As soon as I crutched my way into the crowded hallway of noisy students and teachers, eyes were on me. It became silent and still.

It became awkward. The only sound made was the sound of my crutches clicking the tile floor.

I made my way to my locker hearing whispers.

Seriously, people were staring so hard that I felt it burning behind my head.

Reena, the girl who never talks approached me,

"I'm sorry for your loss."

She patted my back.

I gave her a small smile and entered the bathroom.

-

Honestly, I got over the fact the Jake was gone, but what the real problem was the people here at school.

The way they looked at me wasn't a look of we feel bad, they were looking at me as if it was my fault.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Harry's number.

"Meet me outside of the girl's bathroom."

Seconds passed and I took a peek out the bathroom to find Harry smiling at me through the small crack of the open door.

I opened the door all the way to reveal the crowded hallway. People were talking again, over the fact that I was alive, but some girls and a few guys glared at me.

Harry wrapped his arm around me.

"Don't worry about them. They're still not over 'the fact'."

You know that Harry's a good friend when he knows what's wrong even if you didn't say a word.

He walked me to my first class which was science.

I was the only person there besides my teacher Ms. Craig.

"Morning Brooklyn."

"Morning."

"How's your leg doing?"

"Well, it's broken so..."

I know.

That was sarcastic and mean. All she was doing was trying to break the ice, but come on. I know that she's also thinking it's my fault.

As Ms. Craig blabbed on about the body's nervous system, I stared out my window thinking about a world that I may be -- less miserable.
