I huffed as I wiped away some sweat on my brow. I had just finished packing up all of the new boxes... Again...
I hurried back to work as me and Reaper tried to hurry with all these stupid orders! I think that I might have the shop closed for tomorrow... I really need to give my body sometime to heal...
Reaper gave me a concerned look, he must've been noticing me popping my bones back into place... Eh, it comes with the job, besides, I had worse...
"Are ya okay, After?" He whispered to me as I put some muffins in the oven and grabbed some chilled cupcakes.
"Yeah, I'm use to working like this." I informed him.
His dark eyes seemed to have almost bulged out of his eye sockets! Though I didn't really care that much.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. Pain just reminds me that I'm still living." I gave him a quick smile before going back to frosting. "Besides, we'll have a day off tomorrow." I told him.
He nodded and started stirring a banana bread batter. It was better if he just left the past alone...
A soft sigh escaped my lips as me and Frisk swapped. I had to deal with the more awake, afternoon people... Which sucked.
"Hello! Welcome to-" I started, with a kind smile, but the human just cut me off!
"Yeah, whatever. I want black coffee with a small strawberry birthday cake with vanilla icing." The rude man snide.
I kept my composer and wrote what he wanted down.
"Do you want anything to be written on the cake, sir?" I asked the usual question, keeping a sweet smile.
"Yeah, write I'm breaking up with you dumb whore." He growled, anger in his blue eyes.
"Um..." I hesitated to write that down... But he was a customer... "Are you s-"
"Yes! Just do it!" He shouted, anger sheathing in his voice.
His shouting had gotten the attention of everyone else in the café. I hated being put on the spot.
"A-Alright, sir. Your total is nine dollars and ten cents." I told him after ringing everything up.
He scowled at me as he roughly handed me a ten dollar bill.
I took it and gave him his change. After that, I left to the back where all the strawberry cakes were.
I grabbed a plain one with vanilla, just like he asked, and put in pale pink frosting his words. They made me cringe, but I had to...
I boxed it and then went back front with the boxed cake and the closed hot coffee.
"Do you want a bag, sir?" I kept my polite tone as much as possible, even though I just wanted to snap at this dickhead!
"No." He growled, taking the both the drink and cake. He roughly pushed a small dog monster out of his way as he stormed out.
The poor kid looked close to crying as he hurried over to the counter.
I got a peanut butter cookie sample and handed it to him quickly when he was within arms reach.
"Do you want to try a PB cookie?" I asked with a gentle smile.
The little boy gave me a soft nod. His small paws held the cookie with care as he took a soft bite out of it.
Instantly, his dark eyes lit up and he finished his cookie quickly. This made me smile softly... I liked seeing children happy... It... It reminds of the times that I should've enjoyed...
"Feeling better?" I whispered to him as I saw him nod. "What do ya want, kiddo?"
The little dog monster tapped his chin as he looked up at the sign. He then pointed to the dog monster category, the picture of our Dog monster week special.
"And how much do you want?" I softly asked him.
He held up his hands, showing his ten fingers.
"Ten?" He nodded, this caused my smile to become even more relaxed... He was so precious... "That'll be eleven dollars and fifteen cents, sweetie." l lightly patted his head.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a twenty dollar bill. Maybe the dog sweets were for his parents? Eh, he's paying, plus he's adorable!
"Do you want anything else?" I asked, wanting to make sure that's what he wanted.
He nodded firmly, determined to make sure that he got the order right himself.
I giggled and took the twenty. I made sure that I mentally had the right amount of change and handed him a five and three ones with three quarters and a dime.
He put the money back into his pocket as I turned my back to him and started bagging the food.
Once done, I handed the bag and receipt over to him.
"Have a wonderful day." I told him, still smiling.
He gave me a kind one in return... I liked this kid...
A few hours passed and it was closing time, which meant that there weren't that many people here. It honestly was just me and my workers.
I stretched out my bones, they lightly popping back into place once more today. I was exhausted and my body was in even more pain! Yet... The pain did feel nice.
Shaking my head, I went to go tell Frisk to go home. Her classes started in four hours and I wanted her to get some sleep.
"Frisk, time to go home!" I called out as I glanced in the kitchen. She wasn't there... It was only Reaper, who was putting stuff away. "Hey, do ya know where Frisk is?" I looked around the room again.
"Oh, I told her to go home. She said something about you going to say the same thing? She left about half hour ago." He told without so much as glancing at me!
I sighed in relief, nodding.
"Good. I'll be cleaning up the front, call me if ya need help." I murmured, trudging back to the front. This was going to be a long night.
