. . .
"Here. Let me help wash the dishes." MinYoung volunteers and reaches for the gloves, but I raise my hand up.
"That is alright. I can clean up. You should eat the rest of the red bean bread. You must be tired." I charm my housewife with my smile and she pecks my cheek.
I've been observing for the past few years and read books. Some women physically labored themselves to work and clean the house and care for children - if they are married that is. They have more tasks to do than those who don't help participate in house chores. Cleaning the household should be divided fairly. It's not fair for one part to endure three quarters of a matter.
"Jin, are you doing anything today? I have to shop for groceries, actually."
I can hear the plastic wrapping tear open and a munch on the crust of the bread.
"No, there's nothing on my schedule-"
Something slams on the table and my housewife scurries to my side.
"Okay! I'll go to the mart! Please take care of Sunshine for me. I'll be back before you know it!"
I didn't get the chance to stop her before she sprints to change into comfy clothing. I turn around and notice she only took one bite from the bread. There are still five other pieces wrapped protectively. I can stop her from going out, but I don't.
I have the dishes to wash up. It's not much, only a cooking pan, a knife, two spoons, two bowls and a chopping board to take care of. I'm already wearing the gloves.
MinYoung comes out of the room dressed in a trench coat. She didn't change into anything else and instead threw on the coat. It's quite cold outside. Heck, it's always cold here.
She scurries to my side, jumps to kiss my cheek once more and rushes out.
"See you in a bit, SeokJinnie!" She exclaims at the top of her lungs, her cheery voice, not too high-pitched or noisy reverberates through the short corridor.
"It's Your Highness!"
"Okay!"
She shuts the door and I'm left with the unit all by myself, aside from the feline that is. I know why she rushes out when it comes to grocery shopping. I trust my housewife that she doesn't see another man. I can always invade through her memories without her knowing.
She's loyal to me and that's all that matters.
Pouring enough dish soap onto the sponge, I begin my part of cleaning up.
Back to where we left off.
Feeding off from MinYoung enticed me to come back. There were some figurations to how the encounter happened. She doesn't recall me carrying her back home. She can't remember the time after that. I simply replaced it with a different scenario.
Aside from feeding off on memories, I can twist some events too.
The compensation is my own memories. The memories are taken by random. I can't choose which memories that I no longer want to keep with me any longer. Whether it's a time with my siblings or my Mother, it will be compensated for the change. I do this because I want to forge the future.
I'll end up dying one day and these memories are all for myself.
Yes. I sacrificed memories of the past in order to get where I am right now. This is only a onetime decision. I risked at least two percent of my head. Anything further than that may cause brain damage or even worse, I'd forget everything about my goal.
