15. Markus' words

P.O.V. Allyson

I woke up in the yard against the tree that held the hammock. The world around me hurt. It was blurry, loud, and on fire. Voices I could hear voices in the distance, different conversations all over. My ears and eyes hurt, slowly my vision came back into focus. The house was burning down, Jennifer was fighting this big beast, Riley was running out of the house with kyla in his arms. Adam was near the pool fighting another beast with Annalisa at his side. William, I couldn't see him but I could feel that he was close. "Oh you're awake?" Markus spoke from above me, he reminded me of a giant bronze shield.

"Where's William? Markus what's going on?" He helped me up,

He glanced toward the house, "Misplaced trust is what's happening." I leaned heavily onto him, my head still spinning. "Allyson I need you to remember a few things for me."

All the fights with these beasts and their eyes that stuck with me. It was like they were soulless pits. "Remember? Remember what?" The air up here felt hot and for a moment that's all I could focus on, heat and pain, everywhere hurt. Behind us I saw Will he was fighting another beast big purple and horned with yellow soulless eyes. yuck.

"Allyson, listen to me, Things are different this time around." He guided my chin up so that I would look at him instead of watching Will. I could hear grunts and screams all around us. "I need you to protect him, I need you to remember your past lives."

"My past lives?" My head was still spinning. Nothing Markus was saying made any sense, not his words or his actions. I felt so distracted with everything going on, it's like I needed to keep my eyes on Will, it felt like if I looked away he would disappear or worse die.

"Yes Allyson, it's imperative that you unlock Auras life. She is within you Ally, We all need you to remember." William made a loud yell like he got hurt. I tried to pull out of his grasp and make sure Will is okay. "ALLYSON! William needs you to remember it's the only way to keep him safe to keep us all safe."

I glared at Markus, "How does that help him now?"

Markus shook his head, "I'll help him, you need to stay away from the demons, they can't see you where your at right now i have Riley and James keeping their minds from seeing you." I tried to look away again at William who went silent behind us, but Markus brought my forward to face him again, "Unlock her and stay safe Allison" He then ran off to join William in his fight.

I watched William and Markus take down two beasts; Adam and Annalisa brought down another and made their way over to William. Jen, Riley, and Kyla made their way over to me. There was a slight pull on my pants leg, looking down I saw Kevin, It's a miracle he survived this. It's a good thing I still had on my hoodie from earlier, I picked him up and put him into my pocket. I could feel him burrowing himself as far back into my pocket corner as he could. "That thing has got to be invincible." Riley said when he reached me.

"Yeah I guess so." I was about to say Kevin is not a thing but Jenn cut me off by touching my forehead. "What are you"

She shhhh'd me, "Im healing that nasty cut on your head." and then I felt the warm sensation of my skin sewing back together and numbing away the pain. I closed my eyes and let her work.

"We need to go, Now!" Williams' voice snapped my eyes open. He was running towards us with Annalisa and Adam following behind. Jenn and Riley ran, Kyla safely in his arms. WIlliam grabbed my hand and I began to run with him. We all ran past Markus' beautiful house and made our way through the woods.

Numbly, I walked following William through the never ending rows of trees, secretly wishing that they would end soon. Markus' house was far behind us or whatever was left of it is. Oh god Markus and the rest of them; I don't think I'll ever be able to forget everything that unfolded back there. Those eyes, and the screams, and Markus words before he ran off to join William in the fight. They all rang through my head over and over in a never ending loop.
