Alexa and Mark's date Christina apparently didn't think to use the time we spent waiting on Gabrielle to go to the restroom, so now we are waiting on them before we can leave and go to dinner. John goes off and starts talking to a group of his freshman friends, so I end up just talking with Harry and his friends. I do my best to keep from speaking with Gabrielle, just because I don't want to, and generally, that seems to be going pretty well. It helps even more that Gabrielle goes over to John to talk with his friends, so now I really don't have to talk to her. I didn't even know she was a sophomore until just now, but apparently, one of those freshman guys is her younger brother.

Alexa emerges from the bathroom first, and she makes a very direct path towards John. She smiles brightly as she approaches him, and I can't help but be glad that he has found someone who looks at him with so much affection. That's a damn great feeling, and everyone deserves to feel it. However, Alexa's joy seems to be short-lived as the happy expression on her face melts away rather quickly and turns into one of disappointment. John looks over at me for a moment before shifting his eyes hastily away and fixing them on Alexa. They speak to each other, and it seems that she is now upset with him.

Okay, John's my friend, but if he's being rude to her right now, that's not okay.

Alexa is quick to hide her changed mood as she, John, and Gabrielle rejoin us. Alexa keeps her eyes downcast while John addresses Harry and says just about the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

"Hey, man, I appreciate the invite, but I think we're gonna go to some bars instead."

Harry gives John a curious look, but nonetheless nods in acknowledgement before turning to the rest of the group and asking if we're all ready to go. Christina has apparently rejoined us while I was not-so-inconspicuously staring at John and Alexa earlier, so it appears that we are indeed ready for dinner. I, for one, can't wait to taste some of the fantastic food here; and normally, that would be my main concern, but watching Alexa's rather dejected demeanor, I can't help but wonder if I should ask her to come to dinner with us anyway.

No, I shouldn't meddle. That is not the move.

Buuut, she did tell me while we were getting ready earlier that she doesn't have a fake ID, and so I'm really not sure if she'll even be able to get into the bars at all. Some places back at school will let you go in under age as long as you get the X's on your hands, but I know that the bars in New Orleans don't do that. And if that's the case, then there's no point in them going at all. Because either they're all going to stand outside, or Alexa is going to be left outside all by herself, and that is just not the best idea. Also, John would be an asshole if he did that to his girlfriend, and I am not about letting assholery fly if I have anything to say about it.

Okay, that's it. Imma do it.

Both groups leave at the same time, and once we're through the doors, I call out Alexa's name. She turns around, looking at me rather hopefully. With that expression on her face, I kind of think she might want me to ask her to come with us. John doesn't realize she has stopped on the sidewalk, so he keeps walking on with his friends. I can't help but find this a bit odd, seeing as how less than half an hour ago, he was literally only focusing on Alexa and how beautiful she looked. What happened to that guy? Because he clearly is taking a nap or something. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Gabrielle said something to him that made him act so differently in the last five minutes.

No, that's dumb. Stop being a hater, Camryn.

"What's up?" shes asks me, crossing her arms over her chest and shivering from the cold.

"Hey, this may be out of line, but even if John doesn't want to come to dinner with us, you are more than welcome to come anyway." Harry stops behind me and I can practically feel him staring at me. I don't really want to know what he's thinking right now though, so I don't turn around to look at him, not even when he tells our group to go ahead and walk to the restaurant down the road.
