[Maggie's POV]•••
"So he's not here?" My question is directed to a manager who looks like he'd be anywhere but here. The man shakes his head, letting a sigh leave his mouth.
"He's coming tomorrow." Those simple words cause me to roll my eyes.
It might not look like it, but I actually have a life and I'm not gonna waste the little time I have waiting for some dude, who's barely paying me anything, to actually be responsible. Basically, he can't just show up whenever he wants and expect me to follow him around.
"Well, tomorrow I can't be here." I tell the man and he simply shrugs. He really doesn't care.
"Then I guess you're not doing much standing here, are you?" He spits the words out almost with disgust towards me.
"Well then, tell him he can write his own trash. Good luck making that idiot a star." I give him a glare and turn around quickly before I punch someone in the face.
I let my feet take me over to the main door of the busy building while my gaze stays on the floor, as I try to calm myself down. Before I know it, I bump into something hard that makes me stumble backwards. My cheeks immediately start burning up and I slowly look up, ready to face the embarrassment.
"Oh shit! I'm so sorry."
That's when my eyes spot a familiar face. Oh no, what have I done?!
"Geoff! Hi and sorry that was totally my fault." I awkwardly laugh at myself and at his shocked expression, my eyes move to my feet for a second as if that would conceal the uncomfortable situation.
"Maggie! You're back. Hi!" He pulls me into a quick hug and I automatically wrap my arms around his big frame. Okay, he's acting normal what actually helps me feel a little less embarrassed.
We quickly pull away and I let my eyes analyze the boy standing in front of me. Geoff and I met last year, I believe but haven't seen each other in a while. He's hasn't changed much, his hair is a little longer than I remembered, now falling into soft curls that frame his face, other than that he's the same giant I knew before.
My intent look drifts over to someone standing behind the person I was just talking to, my stare ends up landing on a pretty face looking back at me with, from what I can tell, an intrigued look.
Geoff notices me making eye contact with his friend, who is shamelessly looking right back at me, and immediately smiles before clearing his throat, ready to introduce us to each other.
"Maggie this is my friend Shawn. Shawn this is, Maggie."
Oh, wow. He's real.
I like that Geoff is introducing us as if I wouldn't know who Shawn is, obviously I know of him, but I can't really know him if we've never spoken. The fact that they don't assume he doesn't need introductions puts a smile on my face.
"Hi! Nice to meet you!" I exclaim and take a couple of seconds to really focus on this guy I'm meeting. His familiar brown curls, soft eyes, and bright smile put me at ease, those nerves I was feeling moments ago fading away from just a look.
"My pleasure." Those simple words combined with his sweet smile and the gesture of putting his hand out for me to shake, make the heat come back to my face.
"So what are you doing here?" Geoff asks me, only causing the emotions I was feeling just minutes ago to come back and get me annoyed again.
"I was supposed to be helping this kid write a couple of songs but he's not here. He thinks he can become all famous and not work for it. That honestly pisses me off." I roll my eyes and cross my arms in front of my chest.
