Charlotte ||
Charlotte was the most quiet girl in her class. Nobody really knew about her except her twin brother Cole. Cole was also very quiet, like Charlotte. They were both always drawing. The only thing Charlotte was known for, was being the boys punching bag. They all called her powder head, or granny. The reason for that is because of her snow white hair. Yes, her hair was very natural. She had very pale skin as well, with big ocean eyes. The girls weren't nice to her either, especially Josie Pye. She was the worse. None of the more popular boys noticed Charlotte. Boys like, Gilbert Blythe. He was the smartest, and most handsome boy, according to Ruby. She's had a crush on his for quite a while.
Charlotte was sketching a humming bird in her notebook before class started when an unfamiliar girl walked into the one room classroom. Mr. Phillips introduced the fiery redhead. Anne with an e, she called herself. Charlotte took a liking to her right away. Anne was different as well. She was the only one with red hair. Charlotte patted the seat next to her, when Mr. Phillips told Anne to take a seat. Charlotte smiled when Anne sat next her. "Hello," Anne smiled as well. Class soon began, and Charlotte felt good for once. She felt like she finally had a good friend.
Charlotte looked out the window as Mr. Phillips taught the class. Charlotte was always drawn to nature. Charlotte continued to sketch out her humming bird, when something hit her feet. It was another note. Charlotte had received quite a lot of notes. All of them being rude ones, of course. She opened the note anyways. "Dear Miss, it was quite rude that Mr. Phillips introduced Anne but not you. I wanted to let you know that I noticed you were actually part of the class. From Gilbert," it read. This is exactly what Charlotte means when she says she's invisible. She scoffed and wrote on the bottom of the letter: "Dear Gilbert, I've been going to school with you since we were little. Thanks for noticing me. From, Miss Charlotte," she smirked and rolled the paper back to Gilbert. That silly boy, Charlotte thought in her head. He hadn't even noticed that Billy bullied her everyday after school. Sometimes just by calling names, and other times he hit her hard enough for her not to go to school for days. Charlotte watched Gilbert open the note and read it, his eyes going wide. Gilbert looked at Charlotte and back to the note. Charlotte shook her head and looked back out the window.
Mr. Phillips, finally, dismissed the class. Charlotte worked quickly, and quietly, as she picked up all her things. She was trying to get out of there as fast as she could. Anne asked Charlotte if she wanted to walk with her. "Of course Anne," Charlotte smiled and waited for Anne. If she was walking with Anne of course the boys wouldn't get to her. Charlotte and Anne soon left the classroom and began walking the path back to their homes. Cole closely followed behind the two girls. Cole was also bullied by the boys. "Look guys it's a bunch of freaks," Billy said from behind them, "Their multiplying," he laughed, and so did the other boys. As if on que, Gilbert Blythe came running up the path. "Charlotte," he said out of breath, "I've been meaning to talk to you," Charlotte's eyes widened. Oh goodness. Gilbert wanted to talk about the whole note thing. Charlotte didn't have time to deal with this silly boy. "Why would you ever want to talk to this freak?" Billy asked Gilbert. "Oh hey Billy," Gilbert said turning around, "and to answer your question your right," Charlotte's eyes dropped to the ground. Charlotte's theory was just proven correct, all boys are jerks. "Why would I ever want to talk to you," Gilbert laughed as Billy glared at him. Gilbert soon returned the glare, and Billy backed off. Charlotte wanted to smile and thank Gilbert, but she waited until the other boys were gone. Billy left with his group, deciding this day wasn't a good one for tormenting Charlotte. Charlotte smiled as they left. "Thanks Gilbert," She told him. He smiled, "No problem, can we talk?" He asked. Charlotte looked at Anne then her brother. "Um we can talk tomorrow I have to go," he nodded and I took off with Anne and Cole.
As we got farther away from Gilbert Anne turned to me and said, "oooo who's Gilbert," she smiled, cheekily. I laughed, "Gilbert is the "most popular" boy in our class," Anne nodded, "I know Ruby told me all about him, but who is he to you?" She asked. Cole looked at her confused and then back to me. I sighed and rolled my eyes. "He's a boy that just realized I was in his class, but I've been going to school with him since I've been little," Anne laughed and so did Cole. "What! How is that possible?" Anne asked. "I don't know but he wrote me a note saying "oh I'm sorry how rude Mr. Phillips was for only introducing Anne and not you as well" it was quite funny," I told her. Anne, Cole, and I laughed and talked all the way home. I think that was the first time I felt joy in a long time.
