*another week has passed
Charlotte ||Charlotte still hasn't received a letter from Gilbert. She huffed as she sat down for dinner. They all stared at Charlotte, as if they knew something she didn't. "Okay somebody found the letter Gilbert sent me," Charlotte said abruptly. Then everyone looked away smiling. "What's wrong?" Charlotte asked. "Go check your room upstairs," Her mother stated quietly. Charlotte left the dinner table and walked up the stairs with her eyebrows scrunched together. She put her hand on the cold door knob. Her hands were shaking, but she slowly opened it anyway. Her eyes were on the floor as she walked in. "Charlie?" Charlottes head raised immediately. There stood in front of her was Gilbert Blythe. "Gil!" She screamed pulling him into a hug. "What are you doing here? Did you get my letter? How was the ship? How did you get in my house?," Charlotte questioned quickly. "Woah woah calm down," Gilbert chuckled, "Come on let's go for a walk and catch up," Charlotte nodded.
The two ended up at the beach once again. "I was so lonely on the ship," Gilbert said, as they stared out at the ocean. "And every time I looked out at the ocean I got sadder," Charlotte sighed, "Every time somebody said your name I felt more lonely," Charlotte told him. Their eyes drifted from the ocean to each other's. "Those eyes," Gilbert whispered breaking the silence, "those blue eyes is what made me sad. Every time I looked out into the ocean I thought of you Charlie. You and your twinkling blue eyes," Gilbert explained. Charlotte smiled, "it's seems almost like we can't live without each other," Gilbert chuckled and scratched the back of his neck. "Remember how we became friends?" Gilbert asked. Charlotte laughed, Gilbert's eyes were on her the whole time. "Yeah you sent me that letter," Charlotte said. "Do you want to know the truth?" Gilbert asked. Charlotte nodded. "I've known you since when we were younger. Of course I noticed you. You were and still are the most gorgeous girl in our class. In fact, most of the boys have a crush on you," Gilbert explained, and Charlotte's mouth was open. "Could one of those boys be you?" Charlotte asked as they both seemed to be getting closer.
Gilbert sighed taking another step closer, their faces almost touching now. "Perhaps," he whispered. It then began to rain. The rain was gentle at first, but it then turned into a storm. Charlotte squealed, "Come on Gil!" She screamed grabbing his hand and pulling him with her. The ran up the path to the field. They ran through the field to find themselves on a big plain of grass. They danced together, jumping up and down with joy. By "danced" they rocked out. Flinging their hair and throwing their arms up in the air. "Woooooo!" Charlotte yelled giggling. They kept dancing, running, and skipping around for a while. They both then ran to Gilbert's home. "Sebastian!" Gilbert yelled as they entered the home, soaking wet and out of breath. "Who's Sebastian?" Charlotte asked. "Oh he's a friend I made on the ship," Charlotte nodded. A black man poked his head around the corner. Charlotte was slightly shocked but didn't react. She thought that black and white people are the same, everybodys human. "Oh hello," Sebastian smiled, "I am Sebastian," Charlotte nodded, "It's nice to meet you Sebastian," Charlotte grinned, "I'm Charlotte," Sebastian looked to Gilbert smirking. "Well Gilbert will you help me get towels and blankets?" Sebastian asked him still smirking. Charlotte was slightly confused but decided to leave it alone.
The two came back with two towels and four blankets. Charlotte and Gilbert wiped themselves down, then sat down by the fire wrapped in the blankets. "That was an adventure," Charlotte said staring at the fire. "Yeah it was really fun," Charlotte felt Gilbert's eyes on hers. "Are you staring at me Gilbert Blythe," She smirked. Gilbert chuckled, "should I even try and hide it from you?" Charlotte laughed. The fire crackled and Charlotte moved closer to Gilbert. She put her head on his shoulder and yawned. "Long day?" Gilbert asked, speaking softly. Charlotte nodded slightly. Gilbert wrapped his arm around her and brought her closer. The girl was soon asleep, and all Gilbert could do was admire her. She looked ever so beautiful as she slept. Her face looked soft. She looked like an angel. The sleepiness is now hitting Gilbert. So he yawned and placed his head on top of hers and fell asleep.
The loud knocks that came from the door is what woke Charlotte and Gilbert up. Charlotte smiled as she saw Gilbert stretch and stand up. She smiled because she knew he was finally here, finally here in Avonlea right next to her. Gilbert opened the door and his eyes widened. "Gilbert?" Charlotte heard a woman's voice ask, "Is Charlotte here it's late and I haven't seen her since supper," Charlotte realized it was her mother and walked over to the door. "Yeah I'm right here mother," Her mother nodded, "Okay you must come with me you have school tomorrow you can see Gilbert tomorrow," Her mother informed her. Charlotte nodded and said goodbye to Gilbert. She then fell asleep that night thinking about the adventure she had with Gilbert Blythe.
