Charlotte ||

 Since the wedding, the friends have begun preparing themselves for the end of school. They are ending in a few days. "I  don't know what to wear," Charlotte complained to Anne as she flopped onto her bed. Anne chuckled, "you have four dresses to select from Charlotte," She said, "it's not that hard to pick one," Charlotte shook her head, "My dresses are to plain. I want to look pretty," Anne nodded, "You want to look pretty for Gilbert," Charlotte bolted from her laying down position, "What no!" She exclaimed. "Admit it Charlotte you like Gilbert. Heck, you've already had, but at that point, you were just missing him. You must like him," Anne ranted. Charlotte shook her head again, "Of course I like him, Anne," Charlotte looked at the floor slightly blushing. "I like everything about him. His eyes, his smile, his voice, his laugh, his little dimple, the way he knows just what to say, his bravery, his courage, his strength, his heart, his soul, how protective he is,  how kind he is toward everyone, but at the same time has no one to love him back," Charlotte finally admitted to someone her feelings, explaining everything. Anne gasped quietly. "I liked him too Charlotte but never this much. I thought he was cute," Charlotte's eyebrows scrunched together. "What are you implying Anne?" She asked. Anne's eyes searched Charlotte's face, then she suddenly looked at the ground. She waited for a little while, and then her eyes went wide. She shook her head before answering. "Charlotte you're in love with him,"

Charlotte couldn't believe what Anne said. She was still thinking about the words, even though she has left. Her brain couldn't stop running, as she tried to fall asleep. Charlotte knows she loves Gilbert, but she knows he doesn't love her back. Why would he? She had decided to not to mention it to anyone, not even tell Anne about it. She thought she would have time to figure herself out before she found herself falling in love. Life is unexpected, so she sat there and thought about what she was going to do.

The next morning, Charlotte rubbed her head. She didn't have much sleep, because of everything that's going on. Anne figured out Charlotte is in love with Gilbert, Charlotte is afraid to admit to those feelings, and today's the last day of school.

Charlotte pulled herself out of bed, she decided to go with her pale blue dress. She brushed her hair and got ready then left the house.

When she arrived at school, everyone was bustling about. Everybody's excited that school is finally going to be over. Charlotte immediately spotted Gilbert. Every time she steps into a room she searches for him, without even thinking about it. He smiled at her. Her stomach twisted, and her cheeks reddened. The two haven't seen each other since the wedding. She began walking towards before Ruby stepped in front of her. Ruby blushed at the sight of Gilbert. "Hi Gilbert," Ruby said. Charlotte moved to her seat to avoid them. She couldn't help but listen in and feel jealous. Her heart burned at the fact that Ruby could steal Gilbert. "Hello Ruby," Gilbert replied. "I have something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now," Ruby explained. Charlotte knew exactly what she meant. Ruby was finally going to tell Gilbert she likes him. "I like you," Those three words broke Charlotte's heart. What if Gilbert likes her back? All her feelings would have to disappear. Ruby is very pretty, sweet, kind, shy, and a good cook. She would make a perfect wife for Gilbert. As long as Gilbert's happy Charlotte believes she would be able to live through it, but her feelings will never die for Gilbert. The next words surprised her. "I'm sorry Ruby but I like someone else," Charlotte gasped slightly, praying no one heard her. Gilbert had talked about liking someone else at the train station too when Anne told him she likes him. Could it be her? Charlotte pulled the thought out of her head, and then she watched Ruby run out of the schoolhouse. I looked at Gilbert, who had a hard expression. "Are you okay?" I asked Gilbert. He shrugged slightly.

At the break, Charlotte sat down next to Gilbert. She didn't feel like talking to Anne. "Hey, Gil!" She exclaimed sitting down next to him. He didn't reply. "Gil," Charlotte nudged Gilbert. "Go away Charlotte," He answered. What was wrong this time? "What's the matter, Gil?" He sighed and rolled his eyes. "I said leave me alone," He stood up to leave before turning around, "and stop talking to me," he said in an angry tone. Charlotte felt like she had been stabbed. What had she done?
