PERSONA Chapter 5
- ON THE WAY TO CLANDESTINE - MIDNIGHT -
The Aegis Force receives missions from senior members of the Imperial Capital as well as anyone in need. They accept donations and fees depending on the difficulty and weight of the mission.
There are five levels named after the missions in the Aegis Force.
They call it the 'First Level' for the easy peasy missions. It's like escorting important people to different states and locations.
The 'Second Level' is for when rescuing people in a fire or something similar to it.
The 'Third Level' is for whenever the missions calls for when they are a lot of lives at stake.
The 'Fourth Level' is for when there are confidential work that is connected to high government officials or important school errands.
As for the fifth one, 'Fifth Level' is a job... well, let's just call it the "Cleaning Job". This level is strictly only for black-listed students of the school.
So why did Cashmiere want Eve to enter Clandestine? Well, aside from having her stay where she could find her immediately, the former believes that Eve will become a perfect agent that will soon be a crucial part of the Aegis Force.
"Ah. For security purposes, I put you in the team under Law. It's a team composed of only four students. One girl and three boys. All of them are very well-raised and came from families that are internally connected to the Aegis Force" Eve immediately nodded as a response and Cashmiere added, "They are all very good in the field of fighting and observation. They are fresh meats chosen by yours truly," causing Eve's lips to twitch
"Do you expect me to say something?"
"Nope, not at all. I'm just trying to inform you sooner so you won't underestimate them" she replied and Eve laughed asking "Why are you saying that to me? You're clearly overestimating me. If they are really so good, then its quite possible that they will also realize that I was not educated and I have no connection to the Aegis Force"
"Then make sure they won't notice. Just act like how you've always been" Cashmiere answered as if It was not that big of a deal and added, "You know the school teaches not by class but by teams so not being able to stand out should be easy for you. But just to remind you, those four kids are enough to take all the school's spotlights. They are all clearly still in their first year in training but their potentials exceeds even my expectations"
Eve was suddenly speechless and amused. She met Cashmiere's intense gaze and smirked and whispered, "I don't really care" causing her to laugh and patted my head while saying, "Don't worry, Eve. You're still the best for me" but Eve didn't reply
"Anyways, I already bought everything you could possibly need. Your uniforms and textbooks, even new clothes and new fighting gears. All of them are in the dormitories by now" Cashmiere then added, "Ah. You love to read history books and maps about the Imperial Capital, right? Want me to buy some for you?" and Eve nodded
"Also,"
"Also what?"
"Buy me some pills. I can't sleep lately," Eve lazily said so Cashmiere paused for a few moments, nodded and finally withdrew her gaze from the complicated girl
Staring at the view outside the car window, Cash sighed and thought about her plans for Eve this coming year.
Now that Eve's now a legal adult, and she has finally found former, its time to train her and give her a chance to change her life.
Feeling the air stay uncomfortably stagnant for a minute, Eve coughed on purpose and asked, "So how does it feel to be the headmistress, Cash?"
Cashmiere thought about it for a second and so and replied, "Every time, every day, all eyes were on me. It was excruciating but there's nothing I could possibly do. Despite the headache and stress though, it was still worth it" causing Eve to stare at her
Surely, she wasn't like this after her dad died. Remembering the contrast between then and now, Eve looked at her bloody crown tattoo. Her dark eyes blinking with a strange flow of emotion, completely unknown to Cashmiere.
After a few seconds, she raised her head and shows a very sincere smile to Cashmiere and said, "You've changed, Cash" causing the latter to laugh and replied "Compared to you, it's not much. You're the one who really changed big time'' Knowing what Cashmiere was trying to say, Eve immediately changed the subject.
"Anyways, how did you find me? I'm pretty sure I've been like a snake these past few years" Cashmiere sighed roughly when she heard that and then chuckled thinking about the odds
"You've been pretty famous in the Aegis Force lately, that's why. The tall girl with a long black straight hair that always wears black clothes and has a crimson bloody crown tattoo on her wrist. I started using the gossip as a clue looking for you. Even if you changed your address every week or two, it was not really that hard to locate you, fortunately. Although it just took me my entire elite team just to join the Eve search party"
Eve didn't know that gossip was actually helpful but for a reason, she seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry hearing about it. Why did they gossip about her? Was she being watched every time? Was she a part of their entertainment to past time or something?
Disgusting.
"Do you know what they call you? They call you Black Raven" Eve guffawed and asked, "Black Raven?" and finally added, "It's so ugly!" causing Cashmiere to laugh
"They wanted to recruit you immediately to the Agency but I did not agree since you were very young and you have never undergone training and learning in school. When they found out I knew you, after that, they were always driving me crazy asking questions about you. About why and how did I come to know you and so on so forth. Tsk. It was one heck of a week really. After a week of bothering, I finally made up my mind and immediately sent a group to find you and then here we are now"
