The majority of the lesson was spent with me Luke teasing me or making fun of the little things about me. He made fun of my hair, my voice, my whole face and the way I looked in my uniform. The first ones didn't really bother me, I just shook them off, but calling me out for the uniform I wear wasn't really necessary. The assigned clothes I wore to school were matching to everyone else's so I didn't really understand why he felt the need to bring that up, but it made me smile that he did because then I knew he was running out of insults.

"The particles vibrate against each other... What does his mean? Anyone?" Mr Roger asks the class.

The whole class stays silent even though I know everyone knows the answer, this is what we learnt around two or three years ago. We didn't need to know this, we needed to know more complex ideas if we wanted to pass our exams and leave hassle free.

Just as I raise my arm to say the answer, a voice stops me.

"Rough sex." Luke says and the class burst into hysterics. I feel a smile on my face but I make sure I don't laugh along.

"Luke, you are not here to participate, you are here to be punished because apparently Miss Walker could not control you within the first ten minutes of her class. Now, I suggest you close your mouth and finish off the work sheet you were given. Do I make myself clear?" Mr Roger booms across the room and it shuts up the class but there are the odd students who can't control themselves.

He nods and looks back at his sheet, still smirking at his clever remark. I watch as he huffs at the paper and shoves it to a side, angrily.

"Having trouble?" I whisper to him, trying to be the bigger person.

"History is for fucktards, I don't need this shit in my life." He responds in a normal voice and a few heads turn to look at him and he flashes his middle finger at them, making them swivel around back to the front in a matter of seconds.

"How did you get moved from a history class to a science class anyway? They're like two separate blocks..."

"My guess is that Ms Walker wanted to pay our friend Roger a little visit..." He teases.

"Are they?!" I gasp. It sounds weird that two teachers go together, like its not supposed to happen.

"He doesn't seem to want to play along so no."

"Must be awkward..."'

"What? To like someone who doesn't like you back?" He raises his eyebrow at me and Daniel pops into my head. "Yeah, well relationships are overrated."

I don't bother to respond because I feel that if I do, he'll somehow bring it all back to Skip nod say some witty comment that makes me doubt myself. I just face to the front of the class and scan the board to see if there is anything I've missed and I copy it into my book.

"Tell me..." He interrupts my writing and I look up at him. "Why don't you like Skip?"

There isn't really an easy answer to this, well none that I can think of.

"Relationships are overrated." I say, copying his previous words.

*Luke's POV*

I watch as she continues to write down notes in her book and then look at the clock and how she calculates the amount of time before the end of lesson, then continues writing. She repeats this process a couple of times before realising that I'm watching her. She neatly puts her pen on her book and rests her elbows on the table and her face on her palms. She rolls her head into one of her cupped hands like a ball to face me.

"What?" She questions.

"What?" I mimic.

The silence as we stare at each other is weird. It's like a new experience.

"Why were you following me this morning?" She chokes out as if she was holding it it.

I dim my eyes at her while I try to think of a valuable excuse.

"I don't know."

"You don't know?" Bennie questions.

"Yeah, that'll do." I say, satisfied with my response. "Where did you disappear to after the beach meeting?"

"I... I went to the field and yeah." Her eyes wander the classroom, as if she's trying to avoid contact with me.

"Why so shifty? Did you see the big bad wolf?" I laugh but she doesn't join in.

Then the bells rings and she gathers up all her belongings and exits the classroom like a lightning bolt. I watch as everyone else do the same and then I'm left alone.

"You seem to bring out the confidence in Bennie." Mr Roger speaks up.

"She didn't even say anything in class?"

"Yeah, I know that but she would never think twice about talking to a student next to her when she was supposed to be working..." He says and I realise that he must of saw her speaking but he didn't bother to speak up and tell her off. He just let her off the hook.

"And that's a good thing?" I say slightly confused.

"You could say that, she's a strange girl and needs that support." He smiles creepily and I leave the room without another word.

My next class is art but I don't really care about that subject so I think I'll skip it. I head over to the normal hangout where I see the whole group including Jai's girlfriend and Emma. I don't know much about her apart from how she has something going on with Beau. Neither of them have admitted it but I think everyone's picked it up. It's cool because she's hot.

Older girls are often better.

At everything.

I take a seat next to James and Skip while they seem to be in a deep discussion about girls. Most likely to be Bennie.

"Skips worried because Bennie went all psycho this morning and ran off while he was trying to comfort her." Jai said loudly across everyone to directly me. I think he was hinting that we needed a new plan to sort her out again.

"Comfort her?" I ask.

"Hug her, basically as soon as he touched her, she went crazy." James said.

"You guys should just back off her..." Emma spoke and I think it's the first time I've heard her voice. Jess shakes her head at her friend and Emma lowers her head, ashamed.

"What a prude." Jess laughs and the boys join in but Daniel, who looks genuinely upset.

But I don't laugh either...
