*Bennie’s POV*

The heat between my bare legs and Luke’s clothed legs is unbearable; I can literally feel my cheeks reddening. He sits still with his face in the direction of the window as he takes in the scenery as we drive past; it would be a hard task as the vehicle is moving quite quickly almost as if there was a time bomb which is counting down and getting to the last couple of digits. I scan my window to try to get a glimpse of his reflection; his face.

When my eyes connect with the vivid mirror of his, I choke on my breath. I feel eyes on me from all directions and I try to shake it off while I repeat the one word that is pushing me to be her, the one word that is keeping me from jumping right out of the car window and onto the road just to escape from the possible misery of what is called a party.

Fearless.

I remember my mother saying something about it before I left, I didn’t fully catch what she was rambling on about but something jumped out when she mentioned the word. When the word replays in my head, another word adds onto it to expand the whole definition. Fearless, brave, confident, bold, lionhearted and the list goes on and on. After all, everything that I want or root for, if on the over side of fear so there is no point on carrying on the wrong path. My dad used to tell me all sorts of inspirational quotes when I was only a child, in fact unlike normal children who gets read stories, every night I would get a daily quote to help me through the next day. There was one quote I remember the most, he said ‘If it’s still on your mind, it’s worth taking the risk’ and that was the last time he spoke to me before he left.

I close my eyes and push back the soft feeling of butterflies brewing in my stomach, my first party.

The car stops and a sudden thump is heard, the boys laugh as it gets louder and more often. It takes me a couple of seconds to realise it’s just the music from inside and it must be really loud if I can hear it from here. My eyes wander around the big house placed right in front of me; it doesn’t look like it is in the right place as if it’s supposed to placed somewhere in America or something, not here. The house is painted white and there are several windows situated all over it, there is one door which is probably big enough to fit two motorbikes in at the same time. The front garden has been covered in plastic cups, just like the movies, some red and others crystal clear. There in the front garden are groups of people I’ve never even seen before and people I wish I’ve never seen before. Either way, this is all new to me.

I’m brought back to reality when the boys climb out the car leaving me alone with Luke whose eyes are on me; I bring my eyes to his and slightly smile. His expression doesn’t copy mine, instead it looks worried.

“You ready?” He whispers.

I furrow my eyebrows as I ask myself the same question. It seemed easy to answer a couple of minutes ago but his tone and facial expression made the hairs on the back on my neck stand.

“Should I be?” I copy his volume.

He grabs my hand and pulls me close to him, where he pulls me into an embrace. My arms are tucked inbetween our bodies and once again, I feel uncomfortable with his presence. I pull away and lean forward trying to get the door handle to let myself out before I do something stupid.

*Luke’s POV*

She leans over my body and climbs out the door, accidently brushing her leg against my bulge. She automatically pulls herself fully out the car onto solid ground, with her face reddening yet again. My hands drift to the place she touched and covers the damage she did. Fuck, she can’t have this much of an effect on me; I can’t be dealing with this right now.

I shuffle in my seat before climbing out the car with hand still hovering over dick in case someone sees my slip up. I’m not even in the party where there are hundreds of drunk, desperate girls who will barely wear any clothing, that’s where I’m supposed to be turned on. Not now. I slam the door shut and walk to Bennie’s side, placing one hand on her back as I guide her inside.

The doors are wide open and I can already see people on the floor passed out, still with their cups in their grasp. There are a couple people dancing and grinding on each other, especially chicks. I spot Beau dancing with Emma, his hands remain on her ass and her arms wrap around his neck. His lips kiss her neck and I think back to that night with Bennie, how delicate she was and how she looks like a completely different person tonight.

I see Jess sitting on the couch with Jai spread across it, lying down. His head in on her lap, and she strokes his hair and places her fingers on his lips and occasionally in his mouth where he sucks onto them.

I continue looking around where I see James standing with headphones on, I think he is the DJ, explains the music that’s playing. He must have rushed in to take over the previous person, who is dancing alongside James. There is a girl with a cup in her hand admiring James’ choices and she’s swaying her hips and head banging slightly. She walks over to James and puts her arm around his shoulder, Karis.

Karis is the owner of this house and she fucking knows how to throw a good party. She doesn’t go to the same school as all of us, but everyone knows her. She smiles at me and then turns to James, who kisses the top of her head, then mouths something to me, but I can’t make out what he said. Something that consists of the words ‘told you’ and ‘bang’. When he starts to do a grinding gesture, I laugh and shake my head at him.

I guide Bennie to the kitchen where I grab any liquid in sight. I pick up a bottle of vodka and drag her towards the back garden where I notice a huge swing, which has a rope net big enough for both Bennie and I to fit in.

“Wait, we’re going outside?” Bennie interrupts, shouting over the music.

“Yeah, problem?”

“I just thought that because it’s a party, I’d have to socialise.” She murmurs into my ear.

“You thought wrong.” I say, moving towards the swing.

“Oh thank God.” She lets out a huge breath and I can’t help but laugh.
