Chapter 5

Chester:

We were in gym class.

I just couldn't help but look over at the girls and watch Alexis warm up.

"Bennington! Stop gawking at the girls and get started!" Coach Logan shouted.

I rolled my eyes, but then turned away and ran my laps.

"We're playing basketball today. Bennington and Farrell vote for the teams. Bennington begins." The coach said.

"Shinoda." I said right away because I knew how well he played basketball.

It wasn't important to me to win against Dave, but I wanted to have some fun with it.

"Delson." Dave said with a grin because he too knew Brad played at least as well.

"Bourdon."

"Hahn."

"Cornell."

"Weiland."

That went on until we had our teams together.

Our teams surrendered to their respective half of the field.

Dave and I were both standing at the line that separated the halves.

Coach Logan was standing with the ball in his hand and his whistle between his lips between me and Dave.

"Ready?" He muttered.

We both nodded.

He whistled and threw the ball right in the middle of the air.

Dave caught him and threw him to Brad.

He immediately evaded Mike and Chris and then threw the ball to Scott.

Scott caught him and he ended up in the basket.

It won't be easy.

"Next time I'll get you, Bennington." Dave said with a laugh and gave me a friendly push in the side.

"Dream on, Farrell." I said with a smile.

We disappeared into the dressing room and a little later also under the showers.

"You smell good." Alexis said after greeting me with a kiss.

I laughed and kissed her again. "Thanks, babe."

"I'm aching all over." She whined a little later.

"Has Coach Matthews been pushing you too hard again?" I wanted to know.

"Circuit training." She just replied and stretched.

Shortly thereafter she wrenched her face painfully.

"If you want, I can massage you later. Maybe your muscles will relax a little." I said with a smile.

"You're the best boyfriend I could have wished for." She kissed me gently on the cheek.

A little later the others finally showed up and to Alexis' and also to my surprise Lin was with them.

"You don't mind if she sits with us, do you? She doesn't know anyone but us, so I thought she could sit with us." Mike said, sitting next to me.

"No. That's perfectly okay. Of course she can sit with us." Alexis replied and gave the shy girl a smile.

She smiled back and settled in the seat between my brother and Dave.

"Tell me, Lin, aren't you actually warm? You've been wearing that hoodie all day even though it feels like 30 degrees outside." Dave addressed it directly.
