"Hey Jack.."

As Zach's eyes adjusted to the darkness, he noticed Jack, curled up on his bed, sobbing. His face and eyes were red and puffy. Seeing Jack like this broke Zach's heart, even if he looked the same. He noticed Jack was wearing his hoodie.

"W-what do y-you want, Zach" Jack said through sobs, trying to hide his crying from Zach. He pulled his covers up to shield his face from him. It was no use; he was a mess and they both knew it.

"Did you...." Zach began, clenching the letter tightly in his hand. Jack scoffed. "Did I what? Read the letter? Because yes, I did. But what does it matter to you? It's not like you know I lov-.." Jack trailed off, not wanting to let Zach know his feelings for him.

Why did Zach care if he had seen the letter or not? It's not like Zach knew he had feelings for him. It was just a stupid letter, for stupid Madelaine.

"I'm...I'm sorry, I just thought maybe you cared about my feelings...my feelings for y-" Jack interrupted. "yeah, I know who your feelings are for. I honestly don't even care, Zach. I don't know why you think I would". Jack fiddled with his fingers, awkwardly sitting up.

"Zach, I don't think we should hang out for a while. Well, because of...things". Jack didn't tell Zach the real reason why he needed some time to himself; because of how broken Zach had left him. He couldn't let Zach know about his feelings for him, especially now knowing he was in love with Madelaine, and seeing as he was as straight as a nail.

Zach's heart shattered at Jack's cold words. He couldn't help but be led to think that Jack hated him. Hated him from being gay, hated him for his feelings towards Jack... hell, Jack didn't even want to hang around him anymore.

Zach couldn't help how he felt, yet now coming out to be who he truly was felt dirty. It felt wrong. Jack had made him feel like he was a mistake, like he should go back to hiding who he is, and let it eat away at him as he lived a life of lies and self hate. He couldn't help but let the pain seep through him in to his heart.

One thing he knew for sure was that pain demands to be felt. He didn't even try to stop the hot tears from falling anymore. There was no point, he'd given up. The worst thing was, even though he'd chosen to give up, he couldn't help but still feel pain and hurt.

Zach couldn't help but find it so sadly pathetic it was humorable; you never get what you want, yet even in accepting not getting what you want you must suffer the same fate as refusing to accept you can not get what you want.

No matter what you chose, the result was always the same. No escaping. No denying or accepting it. It was no use, it was all the same. all the same in the ways that it changed nothing.

"If that's what you want" Zach spoke coldly, before exiting Jack's room. As he walked away, he heard muffled sobs. Zach entered his room and climbed in to his bed, numbly staring at the ceiling. There was no point in him breathing, no point in him doing anything.

He should just do everyone a favour and die. Would Jack even care? He didn't even know anymore. he felt a tear escape and roll down his cheek. He sniffled and curled up into a ball under his sheets.
