Daniel's p.o.v.
"Neither of the boys are answering my calls!" I huffed, turning to face Jonah, phone in hand. Sighing, I placed it on the side of the bed and sat down next to Jonah.
"Well, we spoke to them earlier, Jack probably just hasn't bought a charger yet" Jonah offered, trying to provide a somewhat helpful possibility to set my mind at ease. "Trust me, they're fine" he reassured, pulling me closer to him. My breath caught as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
He placed his head on my shoulder and closed his eyes.My heart rate involuntarily increased, letting on more about how I felt about Jonah than I was willing to say out loud. I buried my head into the nook of his neck, breathing in his warm scent. I ran my hands through his hair, humming contentedly.
I smiled to myself. I could get used to moments like these. Moments I longed for... moments between me and the person I cared for.
I suddenly caught myself for what I had just allowed myself to think. I cursed a myself, alarmed at my thoughts. I shuffled out of Jonah's embrace, flustered, and stood up abruptly, nerves in the pit of my stomach. "I- I should go...." I muttered, my heart pounding. My eyes darted towards the door; a confusing feeling of wanting to leave yet not wanting to leave coursing through me.
Jonah must have noticed where my gaze fell, and almost instinctively, he reached out his hand and grabbed onto my wrist.
"Stay..." Jonah pleaded, his eyes deeply begging. As if hearing what he had just said, Jonah retracted his hand. "I mean... it's just that Corbyn's asleep, and you'll have nothing to do there... in your guys' room." His face fell at the last words, as if taking a disliking to hearing them out loud. In fact, as if not liking the thought of me and Corbyn sharing a room...
He looked back up at me, his expression willing me to stay.
"We could, um, just hang out for a bit..." By the end, Jonah's voice was barely above a nervous whisper.
I stood there for a moment, thinking it over, before nodding my head and agreeing. Jonah's face lit up; a light sparked in his eyes as a wide smile swept across his face.
I slowly sat down awkwardly at the end of Jonah's bed.
Jonah chuckled at me. I shot him a look. "What's so funny?" I asked, folding my arms.
"Nothing" he replied, shaking his head, amused. "It's just... you know I won't bite, right?" He asked, indicating to the large space I had left between us.
"Oh..." I mumbled, slowly shuffling up towards Jonah. I akwakrdly pushed myself up towards him. In an effort to help, Jonah grabbed my hand and pulled me up... right next to him.
He wrapped an arm around me, causing me to take a sharp inhale of breath. I slowly eased into it. Despite my attempts to not enjoy it, I did. Too much. I loved the warmth Jonah's body radiated, and the way Jonah's arm around my shoulders brought me comfort. Not thinking but instead letting my heart take over, and outrule my decision, I laid my head on his shoulder.
Even from this far, I could faintly hear Jonah's heart beating. I looked up at Jonah in time to see a small smile spread across his face. My heart swelled in adoration.
I shook my head, suddenly being brought to my senses. This wasn't what I had opted for. My arrangement with Jonah wasn't supposed to have strings attached. I wouldn't let myself catch feelings.
But it seemed that he had already broken his promise to himself...
Daniel placed a hand on Jonah's thigh, slowly rubbing his thumb up and down. He then drew circles with his index finger, and eventually slowly trailed his hand up Jonah's leg. He felt Jonah shift slightly, and fought a smirk from forming on his lips.
