heads up i'm planning to end this story soon...:((
Two years. Two whole years since Vega Waters left the world to join a new one. Two whole years since a young girl lost her mom, two years since a husband lost his wife. Two years and it still hurts.
Two years ago, Luna lost possibly the most important person in her entire life. The person who gave her the chance to have a most important person. Luna never fully recovered. Nobody ever really does when the lose someone they love. Some say that the grieving will come to an end someday, but if you ask anyone who's lost someone, they will tell you the complete opposite. You can ask anyone who has ever lost someone they love, no matter how long ago it was, and they will most likely tell you that they will never or have never gotten over the loss. Some have it easy, like Luna. She has had a whole village with her to help her through her troubles of losing her mother. She of course has her dad, and the boys and their families, but most importantly, she has Daniel.
Daniel has been with her through all the early stages of her grief. He was there when the doctors told her of her situational depression. He was also there when she was told it was gone. He has been their through all the stress, the anxious nights, the sleepless nights, the days where they end up in her wanting to go back to her mom. Wanting to leave the world and never come back because a girl just wants her mom. He was there to tell her it was all okay. That it was going to be okay and that he was there for her. Somedays Luna looks back to those times and wonders what would've happened if Daniel hadn't been their. Would she still be standing here?
"Whatcha thinkin' about, Lunabear?" Jonah softly questioned her. The six of them, along with Rich, sat on the grass around her moms grave munching the picnic they brought along with them. She sighed through her nose and then looked up to see all of them looking at her. "What if I never met you guys?" She spoke quietly. Along with the help of Daniel, Jack, Corbyn, Jonah, and Zach helped keep her on her feet. They kept her happy and distracted on her low days. "What if, Daniel never knocked on my car window? What if I never texted him? What if I never came over to the old house?" She looked back down at her hands that were pulling grass from the ground. It was silent so Luna looked up through her eyelashes at them all. They all had a look that Luna couldn't quite describe. It was a mix of sadness and deep thought. "Sorry, its supposed to be a day of memories and I just dampened the mood." She laughed breathily. "No, no. You're just fine." Corbyn spoke to her. "Hey who remembers that time when Luna came running into the kitchen with her socks on and ended up face planting on the tile?" Zach brought up the good memory, trying to brighten up the mood. They all laughed along thinking of that day. Luna had had a particularly good day at school so long ago and came home to the boys in an even better mood. The boys had been in the kitchen just sitting around on their phones. They were listening to music at a volume that Luna could hear from Daniels room where she sat doing her homework when her favorite song had come on. So, logically, she ran to the kitchen not even thinking of the fuzzy socks she wore, and ended up on the tile in a bundle of laughter. It all ended in Daniel tickling her and all of the teens laughing until their ribs became sore.
"Dad, do you remember my tenth birthday? You and Mom bought me my first ukulele." She smiled looking fondly at her dad. He smiled back and tilted his head up laughing a bit. "How could I forget? You were hellbent on learning but wouldn't let us teach you. You went around the house trying to figure out how to tune it for weeks!" He laughed at her. They all shared laughs even though they weren't there for it. And that's how this day went, memories shared between her and the boys, and stories told to the boys about her childhood, and in return stories of their childhood.
Luna truly didn't have a clue what she would do without her boys. She looked over at Daniels figure which was lying down on his stomach with his head turned and eyes already trained on her. She smiled down a him before she leant down and pressed a kiss to his smiling lips. A few more small kisses were shared before her dad joked about burning Daniel six feet under right then and there. She leaned back and brought her hand to his soft brown locks. She truly did love this boy.lunabear- 2 whole years without you, mommy. just know that i'm doing fine. Dad and my boy are taking good care of me💛
