"Haha! This place is sick!" Barny screamed, Daisy put a finger to his lips
"Shhh..." The whole place was like a maze, but with doors and staircases and boulders.
"Well... where do we start?" Daisy walked over to a stone inscription on the wall
"origo...." Daisy said, reading the word. Barny looked at her
"Well . . ."
"Well what?"
"You take Latin! What does it mean!?"
"Beginning... I think, somehing along those lines . . ." Daisy started walking up the spiral staircase
"do you see anything?"
"Lots of doors, there's lots of doors but they're all shut, and I can't lift them, they're made of stone, they come downwards rather than swinging open" Barny tutted
"I'm coming up." He ran up to where Daisy was standing "Hey, what about these," there were two doors, both open and suspiciously inviting. "Oh yeah. . . Ok, you go in left, I'll go in right."
"K, on three, we just run in. One... two..... three!" They borh ran into the cell-like chambers and the stone doors slammed down enclosing them in tiny rooms, alone. Barny pressed himself against the wall "Daisy, Dais can you hear me?"
"Yeah, I can hear ya'" Barny paused
"Well then, how are we gonna escape." Daisy paced around her cell, there was a window, not big enough to climb through but just big enough for a bird or small animal to pass through. "Well what about this?" Daisy ran her fingers around the edge of the window "the window." Barny tutted, it seemed to be his favourite thing to do at the moment "don't be silly, you'll never squeeze out of that." Suddenly something flew through the window into Barny's chamber carrying a note "oh buzz off pesky pigeon." The bird dropped the piece of parchment and left. Barny shooed the bird and carried on shooing after it left, the bird left only a trail of dust and feathers in it's place, "what was that!?" Daisy exclaimed. "Some god forsaken bird, and it left a message."
"Well what did it say?" Barny seemed confused
"the bird?"
"No you moron, the note." Barny sighed and picked up the letter and began to read slowly but surely. "The sacrificial chambers, when one is gone, all doors that are locked will open and one will be free."
"Hm..." Daisy pondered "I'm not sure I understand.."
"Only someone with the mind..." Barny suddenly realised what it all meant "ohhh, Eppy didn't mean to had to be good at that stuff to get out of here... She meant you had to be good at that stuff to understand this note..."
"So we can't escape?"
"Well . . . my Dad thinks I'm in bed, so we're not in trouble"
"yeah but that's the least of our worries, I mean; do you think that this place is all ours?" A leaf blew in through the window, brushing Daisy's shoulder and blowing away again. "Like, nobody else can get in, that's the danger of it, on the surface it's amazing, but when you're at the heart of the situation, you feel kind of stuck in the moment." Barny acknowledged Daisy's response but carried on with his spiel "You didn't let me finish! I was saying, let's just rest and then we'll figure it out in the morning." Daisy got up and started walked around the room "oh, you really want to sleep do you?" Barny crouched down in the corner "what d'you mean?"
"Just asking, I mean, do you relly want to spend the night in here?"
"Daisy we have no choice!"
"Really? No human touch for at least twenty-four hours, only the wind whistling through your hair and chilling every vertebrae in your spine? The noise of the forest outside your window; the leaves rustling and possibly falling, everything slowing down and hushing as the sky reaches a cloudy grey and a late fog shades the world and only the faint caw-caw-cawing of the crows to keep you thinking that the rest of the world is still alive?"
"N-no, I'm fine, in fact, I'm quite at home here." Daisy chuckled
"Hm, at home eh? I'll check up on you later when the room seems it's getting smaller and smaller until you can't breath any longer.......................... Goodnight."
