After seeing what I had seen this morning, I still couldn't wrap my head around the idea that Hailey was a cop. No matter how hard I tried. Even when I went back to my office all I kept thinking about was her. I tried to drinking two glasses of vodka to see if I could clear that image out of my head. But, even that didn't help.

At some point during the state of denial that I was in, I found myself wondering back and forth pacing across the dark oak hardwood floors of my office with my hands literally dug into my short black hair. I could literally feel my heart racing inside my chest. As I paced across my floor all that I kept screaming was. "NO. NO. NO. THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TO ME!!!

I tried to take several deep breaths and try to relax. But, hell. That didn't even seem to help. As I continued to pace I started mumbling to myself aloud. "Maybe, that wasn't Hailey that I saw in complete police uniform today. Maybe, it was just a figment of my imagination. Or maybe, I'm an idiot. Yeah, yeah. That's it I'm an idiot."

I could feel the stress and the anger in my body building up to an enormous amount that I couldn't stand it anymore and just let out my anger in one huge deal and screamed out. "GODDAMNIT!!!"

I sat back down at my desk and pressed my face against my hands and roughly rubbed my hands down my face. And then leaned back into my desk chair exhaustion, thought to myself. "I can't date a police officer. I mean what would that image say to the guys? Hey, you know even though I might be the Pakhan, I'm still going to date a police officer. But, I hope you're okay with that."

"Yeah. That sounds like something only a fool would say." I mumbled out loud. As I slammed my fists down onto my desk with a loud thump.

I sat at my desk for at least two hours trying to figure out about what I was going to do to solve the situation that I was in. And then finally, I came up with the only logical idea that I could possibly think of. And that was to invite Hailey over to my house and we would talk about what I had seen this morning over dinner that I would cook for us. I mean yeah, it even sounded weird to me that I would wine and dine someone that I was raised to hate all because of their job. But what else could I do? I was out of ideas.

With this plan in mind and seeing as it was close to four o'clock, I picked up my phone and seen that I had an unanswered text from Hailey, I quickly read her message to me and then replied back to her.

"That's great, sweetheart. I'm glad that you had a good day at work. Say, how would you feel about coming over to my place tonight for dinner? I'll cook."

I waited for a few minutes before I heard the sound of my phone vibrate against my desk and checked to see what Hailey had wrote back to me.

"Sure, I don't mind. It will be interesting have a big stud like you cook a meal for little ole me. Would six o'clock be an okay time for you?"

I thought about it for a few minutes before I responded. "Sure. I have no problem with that. See you then Sweetheart!"

With our conversation over at that point I stood from my chair and collected my things and told Aleksei goodbye and left the strip club and went outside and got into my car and headed to the grocery store to pick up several items to cook for dinner tonight. Arriving at the grocery store I could tell that this place was going to be a nightmare to get in and a nightmare getting out considering how many damn people were parked at this place.

I mean it looked at least like everyone in this town decided to shop at one time. With a shake of my head in annoyance of being in a crowded place. I quickly parked in only remaining parking space that I could find and got out, locked my door. Walking to the red and brown bricked building, I could the streams of customers coming in and out of the store. Some with children and some by themselves.

Once the automatic doors opened I walked into the store and grabbed a shopping cart and headed off to the produce section of the store where I grabbed a pack of onions that I was going to use in a pepper steak stir-fry that I planned on cooking, nothing too extravagant tonight. I mean I'm not a gourmet cook.

After finishing grabbing all the items that I needed for tonight. I decided to head towards the check-out lanes. But, then only to realize that I forgot to grab some rice. So, I went back to go get it. However, as soon as I found the shelf that contained the rice. I felt something hit me from behind, turning around I noticed that it was an old man in a motorized shopping cart. And he did not have a happy look on his face, which was weird considering that he was the one who hit me.

Deciding that I was going to be a nice person for once, I asked the old man. "Are you okay, sir?"

The old looked up and down and gave me a disgusted look before he spoke. "No. I'm not okay, my back hurts. And if you would look where you were going fat ass then maybe I wouldn't be in this condition."

My jaw kind of dropped a bit when he said that. What the fuck was even going on. That was it. These people were crazy, and I wanted to get the hell out of here. Before I left I looked at the old man and said. "Don't play this like it was my fault you old geezer. You were the one who wasn't looking where he was going. So, if you don't mind why don't you take your shopping cart and drive it to hell."

The look on the old man's face was that of stunned silence and with that I grabbed my bag of rice and shoved it into my cart and left him standing there like the fool that he truly was. Leaving the aisle that the rice was on, I found a self-checkout lane and quickly paid for my items and went outside to where I had parked my car at.

However, as soon as I got to my car one look at the driver's side door told me that someone had hit it with their car door because of them parking too damn close. Not feeling in the mood to hunt down the person who did it, I snatched open my door and threw my bags inside. And drove off to the house so that I could start dinner.
