Chapter 13

After a couple of weeks of recovery at home I had started to become stir crazy and finally decided to go back to the office. Though I was still tired and stiff I still needed to get out of that damn house. I mean don't get me wrong I loved being at home especially considering that I had talked Hailey into moving in with me. And now that she's at my house I plan on ever letting her go.

As I pulled into the owner's parking space in the strip club parking lot, I decided then and there that I was going to do a bit more investigating into this whole ordeal that was currently going on with Vincenzo. Once parked I turned off the engine of my car and grabbed the keys, getting out and slamming the door closed behind me. I walked into the club bypassing and pretty much ignoring everyone else that was around me.

Once I finished walking through the mob of people that were busy getting ready for tonight, I quickly punched the button for the elevator and quickly got on and rode it up to my office floor and then got out. And went over to my office door and went inside, locking it behind me and going over to my desk and sat down.

However, as soon as I sat down in my office chair I heard the sound of something that sounded like nails going down a chalkboard. I quickly stood from my desk and walked into the back area of the office, only to see Aleksei dragging a medium sized file cabinet across the floor. Feeling annoyed by the loud sound I yelled out. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"

Aleksei stopped and looked at me for a couple of minutes before he answered me. "I got tired of walking back and forth from my desk to the storage area. So, I decided to bring it closer to my desk."

I shook my head in annoyance and then replied. "Well, if you wanted it closer to your desk then why didn't you just grab a dolly from the back and just push it to your desk instead of just trying to drag it over here?"

I watched as Aleksei stood there and tapped his finger against his chin and acted like he was lost in thought for a few minutes before he answered. "Hmm. I didn't think about that, Pakhan."

"I bet you didn't," I mumbled a bit and then asked. "by the way what were you looking for anyways?"

"I remembered that I had some files from when we ran that massive background check on several of the drug suppliers that we have working for us and I think that there might have been one done on Jimmy." Aleksei replied as he sat down in his desk chair and then began going through one of the drawers.

I nodded my and then said. "Alright, well if there was one done on him then it's in one of the many file cabinets that are here. If we are lucky then maybe we can find it. I'll call a couple of the men in here to help you search."

With that said I watched as Aleksei waved at me signaling that he understood what I had just said as I turned and went back to my office and sat down, picked up the phone and called a couple of my trustworthy men who agreed to come and help Aleksei with his search.

Once finished with that call I decided that I would call Boris to check on Hailey whom had the day off today was at our home resting. I had asked Boris this morning to stay with her while I was gone considering that there was a hit out on her head by Vincenzo.

The phone rang two times and then I finally heard Boris answer it. "Hello, Pakhan."

"Hello, Boris. Is everything alright with Hailey?" I asked. Still a bit worried about Hailey's safety.

"Yes, everything is going alright. In fact, she is sitting right here on the couch watching TV. Did you want to speak to her." He asked.

"Yeah, I would like to speak to her for a few minutes. Pass the phone to her." I replied.

With that Boris passed his phone off to Hailey, who then spoke. "Hey, Draco."

"Hey, sweetheart. How are doing?" I asked.

I heard her take a breath and then said. "I'm doing good. I've had a little bit of morning sickness. But, other than that I'm doing okay."

"Alright. I'll call and make an appointment for you at the gynecologist in a few minutes." I replied.

"Thank you, Draco. I really appreciate that. What time are you coming home?" Hailey asked.

I sat there and thought about it for a few minutes and then replied. "I should be home at around three or four."

"Alright. I'll see you then. Bye. I love you." She sweetly said.

"Love you too, sweetheart, Now lie there on the couch and get plenty of rest. I'll stop somewhere and see if I can find you something to help ease your morning sickness." I said and then hung up the phone with one more final goodbye.

Pretty much that entire day we spent searching through folder after folder, until we finally ended up finding the one that we had been searching for. As soon as it was found, Aleksei passed it off to me and I quickly began to read it. While I read through it I found out that Jimmy was really Lex Marino and that he was in fact, Vincenzo's son. His only son.

I felt a wave of emotions hit me as soon as I read that. I was pissed that this information hadn't me passed off to me sooner. I looked over to Aleksei and said angrily. "Why didn't I know anything about this the first day that this shit had come in?"

I watched as Aleksei looked to me and said. "I didn't know anything about this in fact I didn't know that a background check had been run on them until I was informed by Peter last night. When he came over to my house for a drink and to talk."

"Huh? How the hell did that old fuck know about this?" I angrily asked.

"According to what I was told, was that your father had them done several weeks before he was killed. Around the same time that Jimmy and the other drug suppliers started working for us." He answered.

"Son of a bitch. That old bastard knew something about Jimmy and he didn't bother to ever discuss it with me. Even when he knew that I would be taking over." I angrily replied and kicked the side of the file cabinet which made a loud bang.

As I walked towards my office I yelled back at Aleksei. "I'm going home to make some plans for Vincenzo. The old fucker is not going to know what hit him." I said and then left the strip club to make my plans.
