*Chapter Three*

Kimberly could feel her heart pound in her chest like a jackhammer as she approached the food court. Did that really just happen? Did she just get an invitation to meet her favorite band? How was that even possible? Did Mike just feel bad for her because he saw her crying? Did he have to convince the Backstreet Boys to let her in? She racked her mind for an answer.

Her lips stretched out into a full blown smile; either way she was grateful. She could feel herself tremble a mile a minute. When she approached the table where Vicky and her friends were, she saw that they were tossing their food away. It looked as if they were gathering their things so they could leave. Were they just going to abandon her? She knew it shouldn't surprise her, especially from the way Kenzie had been talking about her. She knew that she must've been embarrassed to even be seen with her.

She wouldn't let them know that she had been crying, so she quickly dug into her multi colored purse and pulled out a pair of large pink and black sunglasses that were too big for her face. She put them on knowing she must have looked ridiculous. She rather them think she looked like an idiot than for them to know that they actually caused her to cry. She took a deep breath and walked over; bracing herself from the cruel words they were going to say.

"Hey guys," she said as she forced a smile.

Kenzie just stared at her for a few seconds as she looked absolutely revolted, "Is she serious right now?" She mumbled to Vicky, "What the hell is she wearing?"

Vicky shook her head as she stared at her roommate and murmured back, "I was just wondering the same thing." She then cleared her throat and demanded, "Where were you? You had us waiting for like twenty minutes! So finally we decided to leave because we just figured you left or something."

"Or fell in," snickered Ian.

Kenzie couldn't bite her tongue any longer as she gawked at the repulsive girl who looked like she belonged in a magazine's Fashion Don'ts. "Okay, I need to know. Why are you wearing those things? To complete your outfit or something?"

Vicky laughed as Kenzie demanded an explanation. She then looked at Kimberly and asked, "Yeah really. Kim, why the hell are you wearing those? Take them off. You look ridiculous."

She ignored them as they mocked her. She knew they were going to comment so she tried not to let their remarks get to her. She knew she looked stupid, but if they knew she had been crying they probably would have laughed at her even more. She knew they'd be oh, come on we're only kidding. Stop being so sensitive. Maybe she was too sensitive, but she knew an insult when she heard it.

She just shrugged, "My eyes started to sting...I think it's from the lights." She then looked to Vicky, "And sorry I took so long, I was talking to someone outside of the music store. A guy named Mike."

"Outside of the music store?" She laughed, "Stalking the guys now, Kim?"

She stared at her annoyed, "What? No! The bathroom actually happens to be right next to it."

Vicky folded her arms and cocked an eyebrow, "So is that why you had to go to the bathroom?" She then rolled her eyes and shook her head, "That's a little pathetic if you ask me."

She could feel as anger began to build up within her. Maybe she should have just gone in without her. She tried to keep her tone leveled, "I didn't stalk them. So get off it."

"Stalk who?" Wondered Ian.

"Okay, so you just so happen end up talking to some guy that was standing outside of the door? Fine whatever, I don't care. Did you at least get his number? You were gone for a long time."
