*Chapter Five*
Nick had gotten to his hotel around 5:30 that morning and for the first time in a long while, he laid in bed with a smile. He knew his band mates must've been furious with him, but he didn't care; he needed an escape from them. The smile on his face was plastered as he thought about the night. He didn't expect it to go so well. He almost couldn't believe how smoothly it had gone. He knew knocking on her door was probably one of the most incongruous things he could have done; considering she was a fan. However he had a strange sense about her and just couldn't let her get away.
He grinned; he was so pleased with himself that he decided to chase her. She was someone he enjoyed being around. He didn't even want to leave...he could have just fallen asleep with her, not even touching her and he'd still be happy. He couldn't remember the last time he hung out with a girl where he didn't have sex. It still racked his mind; he hasn't felt like this in years. However, he had a feeling her roommate was going to be an issue. She was infatuated with him and if she had any idea that they were messing around, it would be Kimberly to pay the price. He didn't want to put her in a bad situation and then he had to think about his brothers. He already knew Kevin was furious with him, but he just didn't care. He didn't care about a lot of things anymore. He was getting too old to meet girls at clubs just to fuck them. He was nearly thirty; he didn't want to be that old man that would hit on the young girls. AJ however didn't see a problem with it, that is why he wouldn't understand. He didn't feel empty like Nick did...he didn't long to be wanted. All he cared about was to get his dick wet.
Nick had a feeling no one would understand why he did what he did and he personally didn't care. Let them scream, let them lecture him; it has become a daily routine anyway...it was an off day when they weren't at each other's throats. He didn't care what they had to say. For once he was going to start taking care of him. He wanted to be happy. For the past God knows how many months, he's been miserable. The only thing that kept him going was his insane nights of drinking and partying. He was done with that. He liked how he felt...he liked just thinking about one girl. He wasn't going to let anyone take away this feeling of bliss, not even The Backstreet Boys.
He closed his eyes and her face came to his mind.
AJ stumbled out of the bathroom cleansed; not even a hot shower could rid this hangover. He walked into the large living-like room and saw Howie sitting on the white couch, drying his hair with an expensive red towel. He turned to the closed door and wondered if Nick even decided to come back. He could feel his jaw clench as he recalled how he left him hanging at the club alone.
He turned the knob and pushed it open to see him passed out, "Oh, so it looks like someone decided to come back," he growled.
Normally ditching a meeting wouldn't bother him, but they planned it a week in advance. The whole reason they were at this blasted hotel for a month was so they could work on more music and lately it seemed Nick wanted no part of it. Since he decided not to show, JR Manscar; the head of Jive Records gave them the third degree. AJ knew he couldn't really hold hold it against him for skipping out, since he's done more than his share. But what really got underneath his skin was that he completely ignored him; ignored his phone calls and text messages. What the hell was his problem? What they had was a routine. They never missed a night out on the town...they would always bring girls back to the hotel. It's what AJ lived for. Nick was the best clubbing buddy he's had. Girls were lured in by their celebrity status and would do everything to them. Those whores worshiped them and would do absolutely anything...even if it came to bringing in more girls. Orgies never got dull. He smirked as he thought about it...but he quickly became angry. Because of Nick bailing, the night was a bore. Sure, he met up with that hot chick from the meet and greet and caught the attention of her pretty blonde friend, but it still wasn't the same. The blonde probably would've had sex with him without a problem, but the girl from the mall was totally cock blocking him. That was why he needed Nick.
