Ariana
I explored my 'bedroom', opening all the draws and seeing what was inside. I was surprised at how prepared Jason was to have me here. It scared me, almost sending goosebumps up my spine.
While exploring, Cassidy had tried apologising multiple times, which I ignored. I didn't have time for toxic people in my life. I never have and never will. I'd rather have a smile on my face and be fully content on being alone.
After a while, she started getting irritated and being quite blunt and rude. Again, I ignored her presence entirely and focused on looking at all my new things.
"My gosh, it's like you're enjoying this! How are you just sitting here, enjoying Jason's wealth?" She spat out, making my mouth fall open slightly.
"If that's what you think," I said, knowing my short response would drive her insane.
"How are you okay with all of this?!"
"I'm not, but you seem to think that."
"Stop saying the same thing Ariana! I swear to fucking g-"
"If you don't want the same answer, don't ask the same question. No, I'm not okay with this. Do you really think I want to be in a house full of- of murderers?! No, absolutely not. I just want to be at home, cuddled up on the couch with my puppies and be binge watching Disney movies. But no, you helped take that away from me. I don't care how many times you say you're sorry, I do not accept your apologies," I said modestly, not raising my voice and keeping my hands folded against my front torso.
"Shut the fuck up you selfish bitch! All everyone does is pick up after you. You're to oblivious to everything! You're lucky you had me otherwise you would've been dead. I'm just trying to apologise here. But you know what? Your not worth it. If I were your parents, I wouldn't want to live with such a sad excuse of a child."
The venom in her voice was enough to make my shoulders drop. But once I registered what she said, my eyes went foggy as they sprung with tears. It's like I felt my heart break against my rib cage. My belly felt like it was going to throw up everything inside me. I don't care that she called me the b word, but the fact that she mentioned my parents... No, just no.
I lifted my hand up and used the sleeve of my shirt to wipe my wet eyes. My throat felt heavy, as if there was a volcano waiting to erupt inside it. In this case, it was a big meltdown waiting to happen.
Her face suddenly fell. She obviously realised what she had said.
"Ari, I'm so-"
"No stop, I'm not worth it remember?" I whispered, not trusting my voice to speak any louder.
"Ari, please-"
"Just stop, please leave. I um, I'd like to take a shower in peace if you don't mind," I muttered out, tucking my hair behind my ears.
With out another word and only a long sigh, she stood up and walked over to the door. She glanced at me once with a sad look before walking off and shutting the door behind her.
As soon as she was gone, I sat in the bed. I grasped a pillow and cuddled it while pulling my knees to my chest. As soon as my bottom lip quivered, there was no stopping the tears or cried from escaping my chest.
'I'm so sorry Mummy and Daddy, I should've been there to protect you' I thought, shaking my head as I became hysteric with tears.
The pups tried nudging me but for once, their kisses couldn't fix my broken heart. I swatted them away, which they whimpered about. However they still laid down close to me, not averting their eyes from me for a single second.
