It had been 6 months since Josh moved into the house next door. Every night he would go out into his backyard and talk to you from over the fence.
Setting your blanket down you sighed and laid down. Crossing your arms behind your back you watched as the stars started to show up. A small smile formed on your lips at how bright they seemed tonight.
"Pst." you heard, scrunching your eyebrows you sat up and looked around. Your roommate had moved out about a month ago it wasn't her. Shaking your head you laid back down and continued to look up at the stars. Sighing you stretched your arm out and poked gently at the now blue band that wrapped around your wrist. The color had changed this morning. The word 'Josh' printed neatly in the middle of it. Tracing the letters with your index finger you heard it again. Sitting up quickly you looked around, spotting the slight blue poking out from behind the fence.
"Josh," you asked, you heard a little giggled before his hands wrapped around the edge of the fence and he peeked over.
"Hey," he smiled sweetly "Can I come over?" he asked shyly. He had never asked to come over. He always stayed on his side of the fence.
"Yeah" you replied as you sat up, you watched as he walked around. Hearing the gate at the front being opened you laid back down and continued to look up at the sky.
"Hey," he said, you could hear the smile on his face as he laid down next to you. His arms resting on the back of his head as he focused on the stars.
You watched as he sat up, he ran his fingers slightly over his hair.
"Are you okay?" you asked, sitting up you could feel him watching you from the corner of his eyes. He nodded his head a bit and continued to stare at the blanket in front of him. "Is it because she left" you bit down on your lip. You watched as his body tensed before he turned towards you.
"You know about that," he asked, nodding you chewed softly on your lip.
"I didn't mean to watch" you started to say feeling bad for bringing it up "But, I was heading out when she was grabbing her stuff from your house and didn't seem too happy about it" you added rubbing your arm nervously.
"Yeah" he mumbled "My heart just wasn't in it anymore" he whispered mostly to himself. Nodding a bit you looked down at your lap "I didn't want to lead her on if I didn't feel the same way" he added. Looking over at him you smiled slightly and nodded.
"It might not seem like it but it was the right thing. This way things won't be worse later on" you shrugged a bit making him nod a little. "Do you wanna come in?" you asked pointing to the house. He smiled and nodded at you. Smiling you stood up and put your hand out to him.
You watched as he tilted his head back. His head resting on the seat of the couch behind him. A smile on your face as you took in the scene in front of you as he spoke about his best friend.
"I think you'll like Tyler," he said as he tried to catch his breath "He is great" he added with a smile. "He will tell you a ridiculous story about how we met though" he laughed. Raising your eyebrow at him as you took a sip from the hot chocolate you two had made.
Looking down at him, his head rested gently on your lap. His legs spread out on the carpet of your living room. His eyes closed as he continued to tell you about the first time he went on tour and how he was leaving in two weeks. Listening to him speak, you couldn't help but run your fingers through his messy blue hair. A smile on his face as he felt your finger tangling into his locks. He opened his eyes and looked up at you. Reaching over he took your hand and laced his fingers with yours. His brown eyes focused on the blue band on your wrist. Following his gaze you noticed his index finger slowly tracing it, he stopped where the name was imprinted. Chewing softly on his bottom lip he continued to look at it.
"How long have you had this," he asked as his finger moved around your wrist again. Shrugging a bit you looked over at it
"About 6 months" you replied, his eyes shifted towards you and he nodded a bit.
He sat up and ran his fingers through his hair.
"I was supposed to marry her" he whispered, looking over at him you watched as he held out his hand. Looking down at his wrist you only noticed the colored band. It didn't have a name not even the letter from that very first night. "We had it all planned out" he added as he traced the band on his wrist. Looking at his hand that now rested on your lap you ran your finger softly over the band.
"Did the name disappear?" you asked looking up at him. He shook his head and stared at his arm
"No, her name was never there. There was an occasional letter that appeared but then it would be gone in a couple of days. Just that nothing more" he shrugged a bit "I think it's broken" he added with a small chuckle. A giggle left your lips as you looked down at his hand.
"I don't think you should worry too much about it" you replied "There is a time and place for everything and maybe right now just isn't the right time" looking up at him he nodded a bit and forced a small smile at you.
2 Weeks later
Hearing the door bell you stayed still in bed. Tilting your head to the right you looked at the clock. Sitting up as your heard it again. Sighing you got up and slowly made your way towards the door.
"Y/N" you heard his voice, opening the door you rubbed your eyes as you stared at the blue haired boy in front of you
"Josh its one in the morning" you groaned as you stepped aside to let him in. He nodded as he stepped in and ran his fingers through his messy hair. Once you closed the door he wrapped his arms your waist pulling you towards him. Rubbing his back you let him cuddled to you, you could feel his hot breath hitting your neck. Slowly pulling away from his grip you took his hand and led him towards your bedroom. Sitting down you watched as he stood by the door.
"Josh," you asked as you patted the spot next you. He slowly made his way over and sat on the bed next to you. He laid down and rest his head on your lap. Looking down at him you played softly with his hair. You watched as he closed his eyes and slowly started to fall asleep. Leaning back you took a deep breath and closed your eyes.
"Don't leave me" he mumbled in his sleep, his fingers lacing with yours as he held your hand against his chest. Looking over at him you bit down on your lip. Leaning down you pressed your lips softly against his forehead, he squeezed your hand softly.
