She stood there staring at the roaring inferno as it engulf everything that makes her evoked about Jerome.

She hoped that burning everything to ashes will make her feelings fade away.

On her way back home, she tried thinking about everything but failed to do so. She was like a zombie, her body moving but her mind not functioning. It was like her brain totally shut down.

She then realized that she’s already home. Sauntering to the kitchen, she saw her mom cooking.

She wanted to hug her and sob like a little child the way she used to when she’s hurt . She knew, this time it’s different. Back then,  she was there being strong when she was hurt but now it will broke her mom’s heart too if she saw her cry so she pulled a stool under the counter, sat there and cupped both her hands to her cheeks.

“I know what will heal your wounds.” Her mum said without glancing at her.

She grinned and said, “Carbonara.”

“Yep. Just like the good old days.”

“Hey mum. You’re old. I’m not.”

Her mum gasped and shook her head. “I didn’t know you’ll heal that fast.”

“Well. I don’t mind getting hurt if you’ll always cook my favorites.”

Her mum smiled and give her a small hug.

And there she was feeling safe in her mom’s arms.

"Alright. That's all for today. See you on Monday. Good bye, children!"

"This is for you Ms. Lyn." she heard Nate as she tidy my desk.

She faced him and saw him handing her a dozen of pink stargazers. She really love this flower because aside from being pretty, it smells nice.

"Oh! Thank you!" she beamed and accepted the flowers. Raising it just under her nose, she sniffed it's sweet scent.

"I knew you'll love it. Dad said that if he'll be finding another mom for me he'll give her stargazers so I thought I should give you those flowers." he said fidgeting the hem of his shirt.

"How sweet of you and your dad." she awed.

"Is it okay if I call you mom from now on?" he murmured and gave her his pleading puppy eyes.

"But—" she wanted to refuse but was immediately cut off by the boy.

"Please. Please. Please. Please." he begged nearly crying.

"Fine." she agreed not wanting the child to cry.

"Yes! I knew you'll agree!" he beamed throwing a punch in the air.

She found herself flabbergasted upon knowing that she was deceived by the child with a trick she often used to her parents when she was a child. She just wish this won't cause any confusion in the future.

-----------------------------------------------------------

She's been hiding from everyone in the pack except for some of her student's, the school staff and her parents since the welcoming celebration.

She don't know if she could endure the judging eyes of her pack mates nor their 'i told you so's.

Home, school, home, school. That's the run-of-the-mill for two months but she never bother. She rather be alone than socialize.

It was her dad's request that broke her routine.

"Where are you going, peaches?" her mom asked using her childhood nickname.

"The pack infirmary. Dad said he needed a hand or two. Looks like there's a lot happening there."

"Oh yes. I remember him mention about a lot of pregnant shewolves since the welcoming."

She just nodded not knowing what to say as a reply.

"Okay. You should go then. Be safe. I love you, peaches." and her mom continued to watch TV.

-----------------------------------------------------------

There was indeed a lot of pregnant wolves in the pack infirmary waiting for their turn to have their prenatal check up.

Lyn's father is the only doctor doing the check up as the other -Dr. Reyes- was out of town for his honeymoon.

Grabbing the clipboard, she then helped her dad right away by asking everyone to be seated and started taking their information and blood pressure one by one.

She's totally engrossed with what she's doing and she called out to the next patient.

"Next please."

"Hi." the next patient greeted her.

She wasn't giving her a glance as she was busy turning the papers in the clipboard.

"Hi. Your name please." her eyes still at the clipboard.

"Chloe Steele" the surname made her gawk at the woman in front of her. And there she was. The blue-eyed, blond woman. Her ex's mate. The woman who own the man she thought was hers.

She swallowed the lump in her throat and did her very best to hide the pain in her heart. If the woman knew who she was, she's good at not making it obvious and so Scarlett continued what she was suppose to do.

"Alright, Chloe, how old are you?" she said calmly.

"I'm 24." same age as her.

"When was your last menstruation?"

"I'm not sure but I guess It was two months ago. I haven't noticed since my mate and I are busy lov—"

"Okay. Let me check your blood pressure." she cut her off not wanting her to finish what she's going to say.

She continued assisting her dad with the patients while her thoughts what slowly drifting to her ex and his mate.

She realized that two months ago was the welcoming. She remembered Jerry was already marked by the time which probably mean they were doing 'it' and she was impregnated.

Jerry had an amazing self-control. There were multiple times that she throwed herself at him but he end up declining saying that they should wait until he's 30 to make sure.

It is only now she realized that Jerry was indeed expecting to find his mate while she thought they both dread about it.

She felt betrayed but was thankful that she didn't lose her virginity to him.
