“Um Lizzy I don’t know how to say this but you’re the only one she’d be safe with other than me of Corse so she’s sitting between us, ok?” Jason said as he pushed Alex into a chair next me.
“Ok but why couldn’t she just go into a regular science class?” I asked him calm and quiet.
“It’s a long story,” he told me.
“We got time,” I assured him.
“I meant that I won’t tell you,” he replied like a jackass.
“That’s ok Alex will tell me,” I felt Jager’s power pulsing through my veins I knew only from that moment how to use them. I lifted my hands up so I would look innocent,
“Right Alex?” I asked letting it out in small doses while cutting off her ability to speech or show a reaction I was causing her pain beyond belief.
“Stop” he groaned, almost soundlessly, looking at her in pain he felt too.
‘Oh my god you’re in love with her, does she know?’ I mentally shouted.
“That’s a fucking stupid question.” he mumbled at me.
“Sorry but I had to ask,” I replied.
“Class time to get started,” Mrs. Carson announced, “today we are dissecting a sun fish, partner up only two people to a fish.” she smiled at us as everyone raced around a room to find their best friends everyone was partnered up within a minute well everyone except me. That was until John walked in.
“Oh hello John well we seem to have a partner for our Lizzy,” she told him pointing in my direction. “My dear will you tell him what we are doing today please?”
“Yes ma’am Mrs. Carson” I replied putting my notebook back in my bag.
“Well hello mind reader,” he said smiling at me. I filled him in and we begin the dissection. We were the second ones done so we decided to talk the rest of the period.
“So you and May have really known each other since you were babies?” he asked placing the last book into his bag.
“Ya we’ve been like sisters ever since we met,” I replied.
“How did you two meet? I mean your parents hated each other,” he rushed. "Right?"
“Ha-ha,” I laughed, “Yeah, but our parents used to be really tight. They grew up together our moms were just like May and I, completely inseparable. Eventually they got into this fight over some human guy when they were like 19. They both tried to sabotage each other. When Carissa, May’s mom, went to ruin my mom’s date with him she cast a bolt of power and she accidentally hit Phillip Love while he was trying to separate them. He got really hurt and had to be rushed to the hospital….”
“When he got out he married a nurse he had met in the hospital,” Jason cut in, “ her name was Fiona.”
“And my mom and Carissa had blamed each other for it. ever since any small thing either one did set the other one off. The year May, Nate, and I were born the disagreements got worse, neither family wanted us to bee seen by the public as mortal children. The augments were horrible and bloody.”
“How did you, May and Nate become friends I mean that sounds horribly difficult.” he replied.
“The kids in our family’s got more and more connected because the three of us needed them, see, we were the weakest and our parents never paid us enough attention. the kids called a truce between us so we could always have people as our support. When my mom died my dad hired Julie to pretend I was her daughter thinking I wouldn‘t remember my real mom. When my dad died May’s mom tried to make peace with us but Julie made everything worse she even re- began a war between the families threatening to kill anyone who stood against her. That lasted until I turned 13 and Nick took charge of the family kicking Julie out of the house she still pretends I’m her daughter but it turns out Nick took custody of me a few years ago knowing that he was the best influence for me.”
