Father had always told me to go into Ylisse- I was eight then.

'Try to study as much as you can, Aika. You're going to be successful. You will do as you're told to. Alright, my daughter?'

'Yes, papa! I'll live up to your expectations! Always!'

"...Oh? Back again, miss Aika?"
My robes were too big for me at the time- but caused a great disguise. Father always told me to keep on gloves to conceal my mark aswell.

"Yes, ma'am! I read all of them! They were quite easy,"

"Oh? But they were... Heh, alright. Now, what do you need now?"

"Umm... May I buy an arc tome, please?"

"...But, you're only... Eight! Darling, they're too... Powerful for you. Maybe when you're olde-"

"I have to live up to my father's expectations..." I mumble.

I grab the tome anyway, and a few more books. I hand coins over to the nice lady, and walk out.

'Father... I hope this will be enough for you... I WILL live up to your expectations! I'll become the girl you always wanted me to be! I'll-'

"Out of my way, you." A crowd of people shove me out of the way, as I struggle to get past.

"I-I'm sorry! Excuse me!" My words were pointless.

"Watch out, lass. Coming through,"

Luckily, I end up tumbling to the side, with a rock stopping me in my tracks.

I start reading, tuning out all of the noises...

"Hey! Hey, you!" I look up from my book. "

"Yes...?"

"Not you! Hmpf, I'll go somewhere else... Begone,"

It didn't really matter to me. I was pretty much hated in Plegia, aswell as Ylisse. My father was a tactician, and knee King Gangrel well- he was like an uncle to me in a way.

But I'm glad they didn't know I was from Plegia- I had no idea why father even wanted me here, anyway.

I move further down, and shove my books in my bag. I start climbing a random tree- not too high; just a bit short, about ten feet high, with the highest branch about six feet in the air.

" Perfect..." I mumble, as I pull out the same book, and continued where I left off.

"Chroooomm! Wait uupp!" I see a blonde haired girl in pigtails running- about a year older than me. I look ahead and see a group of friends.

'They probably won't even see me... Father did say not to talk to anyone, right? Well, it's fine!'

"Heya, Chrom! Perhaps you should let the Vaike show you how it's do-"

"Oh, please, Vaike. No need to be so-"

"Haha! Oh, please!" A red haired girl with short hair interrupted them.

"It's good that we trai-"

"Look, boys! Ylissean dogs! Kill them!"

'...! Plegian soldiers!'

"LISSA! Everyone! Get behind me!"

The blue haired one pulled out a bronze sword.

'What?!! NO! He's at weapon disadvantage- and that's a STEEL lance aswell! I...

...Keep calm... Ready your aim... FIRE!'

"Arcfire!" The spell shoots from my hand, and onto the soldier.

I jump down from the tree branch, and pull out a Levin Sword.

"...I know there's more of you! Begone! Unless you'd like to feel the sting of my blade, and the wrath of my tome! NOW, WHO'S NEXT?!!"

"RUUUUN!" I had good hearing skills, aswell as reflexes.

...but they didn't help at that time- not much.

"ACK! Rr..." an arrow hit my shoulder- luckily, it wasn't my chest, or head.

I raise my Levin Sword, and it goes directly toward the archer.
"I said you should've left now before you died.
...lucky for you, I'm not merciless.
Begone."

He ran, but the pain of the arrow still stung.

"...T-thank you... Umm..."

"...Aika! My name's Aika!"

"Oh? And where do you hail?"

"The south of Ylisse. Why?" I lie. "Oh... Well, thank you for helping us, Aika."

I nod. "You're welcome."

Present

It's ironic, really... I joined the Shepherds because... I just wanted to see them all again. I did play with them from that day, but only for a short while. Father figured out, and... It wasn't pleasant. The day I figured out Ylisseans were coming for negotiations, I just knew they would be there.

...and they were.
