Credence started to walk away slowly to the back of the cage. "You better go away. If I get out of this cage, you're the first person I'm gonna come after."
Gellert looked down at his feet, then hurried to the lock of the cage, waved his hand at it and the door opened.
"You wanna kill me?" He asked "Fine, come out and kill me.  All that anger's gonna eat you up, better do something with it." Gellert took a quick glance at Credence then looked away.
Credence scoffed and walked back to where Gellert was sitting, careful to not get out of the enchanted little chamber.  "Until I know for sure where we are and that I won't endanger any innocent lives, I'm not gonna step out of this cage."
Credence may have lost it a bit ever since he woke up and found out the truth, but he didn't completely lose himself. He still had a good heart even though, what felt like a day ago, it's been stabbed numerous times by the black toxic thing inside of him called the Obscurus.
Gellert looked him in the eyes intensely for a moment, then started searching for something inside his pockets. When he finally found it, he pulled it out and displayed it in the palm of his hand for Credence to see.
It was a silver necklace that had the form of a circle inside a triangle which was struck right in the middle by a straight line.
"My wizard friends, the ones I told you about, I asked them to put protection charms on this necklace as well. The same charms they put on this cage. Wear it and you can come outside, eat something maybe sleep in a real bed." His tone was sweet and protective but Credence didn't let himself believe any gesture that came from Gellert anymore.
Getting no response from Credence but a disappointing look on his face, he hung the necklace by a metal screw that came out of one of the bars, turned around and headed towards the exit.
"How do you know that once I make sure it's just us in the area, I won't take it off and kill you?" asked Credence as Gellert was just about to open the door. He turned his head to him and smiled.
"You didn't know who the real Percival Graves was. I was able to be myself when I was around you. You fell for that man, not for Mr.Graves." He took a small pause to analyze his reaction. "You lived your whole life being miserable because of your adoptive mother but you still cared for her because you were able to see past her flaws."
                              Credence fell silent.
"All of us have a dark side, Credence. It doesn't matter if you let it show or not because it will always be there, playing a role in every decision of your life. I know you won't hurt me because you haven't given in to your darkness. You're a strong boy with a strong heart." With that, he left.
Credence thought about what he said and Gellert was right. He couldn't hurt anyone. He'll never be able to.
He rolled his eyes, annoyed that Gellert was right. He wanted to hate him but as hard as he tried,  in the end, the one he was angry with was himself.
He took the necklace in his hand and stared at it for a bit. It looked somewhat familiar but he just couldn't remember where he saw it before.
Puttin the necklace around his neck, Credence took a deep breath in and slowly stepped out of the cage. He was pleasantly surprised to see that nothing has happened. With a confident face, he headed towards the same door that Gellert exited through earlier.
The door swung open and Credence was now facing a spiral staircase that went up. He closed the door behind him and started going up the stairs until he found himself at the end of the stairs and at the entrance of a hallway which led to a room. A very classy room with nothing but quality furniture and leather couches, a large writing desk and a wall full of books.
Lean against the edge of the desk was Gellert Grindelwald. He had a red book in his right hand and his left hand was inside his pocket. When Credence entered the room, Gellert looked up from the book and a little smirk appeared on his face.
"So you're still a wizard," he said as he was putting the book on the desk facing down beside him.
Credence gave him a puzzled look. "What?"
Gellert pushed himself up from the edge of the desk with a soft grunt and was walking towards Credence.
"I was worried that with all the Obscurus thing, you've lost your magical abilities for good. But that necklace around your neck is for wizards and wizards only. If a Muggle would've even touched it, their skin would burn." Gellert explained, toying with the necklace around Credence's neck.
"Why would I lose my magical abilities?"
"You see, for an Obscurial to develop it needs A: a witch or wizard and B: repression."
                              "Repression?"
"Yes, repression. I'm sure strange things happened in your childhood. Books miraculously flying off shelves when you were angry for some reason. Things slightly floating when you were sad. And as you very well know your mother, as soon as you started to show signs like that, that's when she started punishing and beating you. It was indirect, unknowingly but still, you repressed your magic until this black, horrifying parasite formed inside of you."
What Gellert said, made Credence thing back to all those times he was getting punished as a kid but didn't know why. He was just a little boy, playing with colorful leaves outside when they suddenly started floating in mid-air without the help of any wind or storm. Or when he really wanted to read a book that was too high for him to reach so he just wished for the book to come to him and it eventually did.
"And you thought I lost it all after all those years." Gellert just nodded.
He then rested his both arms on Credence's shoulders and said: "But hey. That's a good sign. I can still teach you...if you'll let me, of course."
Credence took a moment to think about it. He sighed and said: "Ok. But only after I learn how to control the Obscurus. I can't wear this necklace forever."
"Deal." responded Gellert and smiled. "Now let's get some food in you."
When he mentioned food, Credence felt hunger like he never did before. He was asleep for a month, so he guesses Gellert either cast a spell on him to not die of hunger or he fed him vitamins.
Even though Credence didn't trust Gellert anymore, he had to learn how to control the Obscurus and eventually, how to cast a few spells.
