Chapter 3: Encounters

“Ugh… where am I…?” Tomomi said with her hands on her head, sitting up.

It appears that we are in some kind of home.” Replied Canta.

Opening her eyes, she noticed that she was lying down on someone’s bed. Panicking, she jumped out and began scanning the room. Everything was made out of wood, the bed, furniture, and even the walls were made out of wood. There were two windows that accompanied the room, with a large door in behind them.

Great! She thought to herself. I can use the window and escape this place!

“I hate to burst your bubble master… but I don’t think we can escape from the window…” Canta interrupted her.

“Eh…? Why not?”

“Come closer to the window… and you’ll find out why.”

Tomomi walked towards the window and saw that there were branches sticking out. She gave a suspicious look but continued either way. Once reading the window, she looked down and realized that I was no ordinary house that there lodged in, but in a very tall tree!

“Oh my… how the hell are we going to leave this place?” Tomomi was frightened, and the fact that she was also scared of heights didn’t make things better.

Just relax for a bit, Tomomi. Let me scout the area around… so please… stay calm and close your eyes.”

She did what she was told and sat on the floor closing her eyes. She could hear the echoes of Canta’s channeling spell and within no time, Canta was out of Tomomi’s head. She reacted by lying down on the ground.

“I’m sorry master… did I hurt you?”

“I’m… okay.” She smiled weakly, closing her eyes. “Yeah… don’t worry about me.”

Canta smiled back at her and flew out the window scouting the area. Tomomi was still lying down on the ground staring at what looked like a ceiling. There were large branches and many leaves that were covering the roof, but sunlight somehow managed to sneak through the barrier of leaves. Not that it mattered, it was a sight to behold and it brought out the environment of nature that was in.

Being mesmerized by the ceiling, she was lost for a moment and didn’t realize someone was calling her until her views was covered by a pretty looking youth in his early 20s, armed with blue eyes and blonde hair. “Hey there, it seems that you’re up!”

Startled, she lifted up her head in a panic and managed to hit his forehead. “Gah!” he fell back on his bottom rubbing his head.

Tomomi immediately stood up and shouted at him, pointing. “Who are you and what the hell are you doing here?!”

The youth gave her a weird look and laughed. “My name is John and you’re in my house.” He stood up still rubbing his forehead and walked closer to Tomomi. In response, she was crawling back until she hit a wall. Seeing that she was trapped, she stuck her hands out in a defensive position.

“Back off! I know how to… umm…” she was looking around the room seeking an answer, until she lay eyes on a pair of gauntlets that were hanging on the wall. “You see those gauntlets on the wall? I can use those and kick your ass! I’m trained in the ways of a kung fu master!”

“Terrifying.” He said bluntly, brushing her threat away easily. He slowly walked to her and crouched down. He had his hand out in front of her. “Come, you must be tired. I brought some food and drink when you weren’t looking.” He was pointing to the table where the good were located. “Try to make it easy for me please; carrying you around wasn’t the easiest thing to do.”
