Chapter 16: Battle

"I hope you're comfortable here... because this... will be your resting spot..." her arms were still out as she was still basking in the moonlight.

She gripped her knives tighter as her surroundings were being covered in darkness. "This is where you will meet your doom... your end!"

Smiling nervously, she pointed the knife at Mariya as the moonlight was getting dimmer. "You're just a coward who hides in the shadows... and only strikes when she knows that she can win!"

Mariya only laughed at her response. "You can call me whatever you want, nothing you say will change your fate..." A red glow came out of her eyes which met Mami's.

Mami was foolish enough to gaze into her eyes. This new found fear of death and the unknown suddenly crept on her. Not knowing how to react, she thought that letting the fear settle in would be the smartest thing to do.

In one of her visions, she saw a glimpse of upcoming events that were bound to happen.

"Give them back!" her voice yelled out. Looking side to side, she noticed that there were two dark figures yelling at each other, but there was no distinction between them.

"Is that... all the White Phantom has to offer? This must be some kind of a joke!" it then rose its hands in a guard position and let out a couple of jabs. "If this is all you have to offer... your end is near..."

"Tch, shut up Mariya!" Mami then charged forward leaving a trail of blood with the two daggers in front of her. Mariya made an X formation and challenged Mami. With both girls recklessly charging forward, Mami had just witnessed a gruesome killing.

She saw that one fighters had a blade impaled through the neck. The edge of the blade was dripping bright red blood on the dark grounds below. Mami squinted to have a better look, but she was too scared of finding out who was just killed. Being curious, she slowly made her way to the two fighters and was shocked to find out that she was the one who was killed.

Her eyes were wide open in disbelief, as two hands were weakly holding onto the blade that pierced her. The hands were gripping the blade, but gradually loosened. Her arms then drooped to the ground and her head sagged.

She shrieked out in shock which Mariya found to be too funny, "What's the matter? Are you scared?"

"N-No!"

"Is that so? If that's true, how come your arm is violently shaking?"

Looking down, Mami's arm that pointed at her was shaking without realizing. There was no denying that she was scared, but revealing that she was terrified really made her angry.

"I am NOT scared!" she yelled back even though her arm was still shaking, "J-just watch! Y-you'll be sorry!"

Mariya tried her very best to contain her laughter, but she couldn't hold it. "I never thought I'd see the day, where the Legendary White Phantom, is trembling in fear!"

"F-fear?! I'll show you what to fear!" Mami didn't hesitate. She got her weapons ready and leapt into action. Running towards her target the knives were held in front of her face, Mami performed a four hit knife combo, which Mariya had easily evaded. During her dodging, Mami went down and attempted a leg sweep.

Jumping over the trip, Mariya gave Mami a wicked kick to the chin which connected. The force was so great that Mami dropped her weapons and rolled twice on the ground before she stopped. Her head was spinning and spat out blood that was in her mouth.

Slowly getting up on one foot, she look dead straight in front of her and tried her best to detect the enemy, but her eyes only saw the black. Even though she was a little dizzy, her head was still working, Where the hell is she? I can't see anything at all!
