Chapter 29

Sam's POV

I grabbed a strand of Cassie's hair as we were sitting at the table.

"What're you doing?" She laughed as she turned to me.

"Playing with your hair, what does it look like?" I laugh and put the strand over the top of my lip to make a mustache, and cross my eyes. Cassie's laughs, then smacks my arm, looking out the orange leafe window.

"What?" I ask as I turn to look. I see Payson hopping off of Chandlers back, then kissing him on the cheek and walks in. They're both laughing as they walk towards the booth we are in.

"You guys already eat?" I ask.

"Yeah we ate a little. We are just gonna share some of this." Payson answers and points to the frozen yogurt machines.

I nod and we all get up to get samples of the different kinds of flavors. I get a little sample cup of strawberry cream and taste a little bit of it. It's delicious but I decide to have fun with this.

"Cassie!" I say.

"Yeah?" She turns to me with a sample cup in her hands.

"Try this." I motion towards the cup in my hand. I thought she was going to give me some snarky comment to "try it myself", but instead she makes her way towards me. She puts the cup up to her lips, and I hit it to her face. The yogurt squirts and goes across her check.

"SAM!!" She yells throughout the shop. Luckily we are the only ones here because the only attention we catch is Chandler's, Payson's, and the cashier.

"aahhhaaha!" I raise my eyebrows and start to run. She runs after me, catching up and punching me in the arm. I try to block it in an innocent, dorky way.

"Oww." I give her a puppy dog look and she laughs.

"Wipe it off." She chuckles. I grab a napkin from the table and step closer to her, our faces just inches apart. Her lips are parted, as she's looking right into my eyes. Damn, I want to kiss her. But I don't. Instead I keep my stance, and bring the napkin up to her cheek. I gently and slowly wipe the yogurt off.

I take a huge step back from her and I can literally see her hair move from the breeze I made from my swift movement. She closes her mouth and presses her lips together, staying exactly where she was and looking at her feet.

"What?" I ask her.

"Nothing. I just thought you were going to..." She trails off.

"Kiss you?" I ask, smiling slightly, even though she can't see me because she's looking back at her feet again.

"Yeah." She says quietly. I look over to Payson and Chandler, and they have their backs towards us, looking at the machines. I take a step towards Cassie and tilt her head up. I dip my finger in the sample cup and dab her nose with the bit of the strawberry cream. She closed her eyes and smiled. When she opened her eyes I leaned in closer.

"Kiss you... Like this?" I ask and lean in to kiss her. Her lips are so soft, and she leans into the kiss.

We let go and she seems out of breath.

"Yeah... Like that." She whispers. She takes the sample cup from my hands and smashes it onto my forehead.

"But I think that suits you more." She says as the yogurt runs now my face, and I laugh. She is so perfect, she made a romantic moment into a funny one.

Cassie's POV

I laugh at him as he closes his eyes and nods.

"I deserved that." He laughs and wipes the dripping yogurt off his nose, and I take a huge step back.

"You better not touch me with that!" I laugh, and he shrugs.

I grab a napkins from the dispenser behind me and hand it to him.

"Now we're even." I laugh and hand it to him.

"Not in kisses." He says lowly and my eyes widen, so do his. We both laugh, when Chandler and Payson walk towards us, their bowl already full of frozen yogurt and lots of desert toppings.

"We already got ours. If you two would get over yourselves already then..." Chandler jokes and Payson laughs.

Sam and I get our yogurt and toppings, he pays, and we sit down.

"Soo...." Sam says, obviously not knowing what to say since we have no insight in what happened just earlier tonight.

"Okay so here's what happened. I know you both want to know." Payson starts and looks over to chandler to help explain.

"When I walked into the theatre, Rachel was there with her mom and her brother. She said it was just a coincidence. And then she saw Payson walk in and then she kissed me." He says and Payson slightly cringes.

"What a bitch." I say out of frustration and the three of them chuckle around me.

"When I ran off, Chandler found me and we talked through things." Payson finishes and shrugs.

"Wow. Looks like you two can get through anything." Sam says and eats his ice-cream-like yogurt.

Chandlers POV

We get done eating and Sam calls his mom. We are all just joking around like best friends and I love this. I love that we can be dating, (if Cassie and Sam are even dating) and still goof around like best friends and not care. I guess that's the good part about dating your best friend. You don't have to pretend to be something you're not, you can be yourself. Laura drops Payson and Cassie off first since they live right next to each other, and I get out with them.

"I'll walk home. Thanks Laura!" I say to her as I close the door. I catch a glimpse of Sam making a gesture to Cassie through the window, but I didn't catch it.

I walk Payson to her door and she turns towards me.

"Well... Tonight was... Eventful." She chuckles.

"You could say that." I say.

"Oh I will." She says and I grab her waist to pull her closer. She copes by lightly putting her arms around my neck, our faces just inches apart.

"I think I should probably go home." I say and put our foreheads together.

"But you still owe me something." She says.

"And what would that be?" I ask, even though I already know.

"Maybe something like this." She smiles and then kisses me.

"So.. Like this?" I ask and kiss her again.

"Yep." She says, and we kiss one more time, this one being longer than the others before she steps towards the front door.

"Payson?" I say and she turns her head to look at me.

"I love you." I say for the second time tonight.

"I love you too." She smiles, and goes inside, leaving me outside, feeling like I could fly.
