(Chapter 9) The Deal

Hanna's POV

My eyes fluttered open to see two, large trays of food on my bedside table. Oh, mum and dad must be going out. They usually eat with us at the breakfast table if they're not busy. Since they're busy, mum leaves us breakfast in bed. The rule is, don't eat at the dining and breakfast table when our parents aren't here. Let's just say we made the rule after injuring the old table with silverware.

I let out a yawn, and put on my slippers. I walked straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I just put my hair in a messy bun and went back to my room.

"Ugh! It's freezing in here."

I put the air conditioner lower and sat on my bed. I read through my newly bought magazine while grabbing an apple. Hmm... Louis Tomlinson In Top Five Hottest Men, 1D Fitness Tips, Easy French Manicure, Justin Bieber ran over by 18 wheeler truck... Meh, nothing much.

I grabbed my Mint Green MacBook Air and scrolled through Twitter.

My boredom was increasing by the minute. There was something I have forgotten. Ugh, I hate it when I forget something. It just kills you to find out the thing you forgot.

I tried my best to ignore my detective self to find out what I forgot and went on wattpad. I was reading this book called The Locker Buddy and grabbed a slice of toast.

Too bad the Author only has two chappies in it. I sighed and went to the school gossip website. A picture of me talking to Nate caught my eye.

Well, that made my day. It's obviously Chloe! Ugh, could this day get any better? I looked back on twitter and lost 50 followers. The universe must have heard my comment.

How can people think I'm going out with Nate? We are just friends! I can't even date anyone at all. I thought back to the moment of the deal.

Flashback

1 year ago...

"Sweetie." Mom called out.

I went to mom and dad's study room to see both of them with concerned faces. What's going on?

"We called to make a deal with you."

I made a gesture to go on.

"When we retire, we want to pass the business to you." Dad replied. My jaw dropped to the floor.

"What about Danny?" I asked.

"He made a business of his own already, so we decided to give it to you." Mom replied.

"What's the catch?" I asked seeing their sad faces.

"We don't want you to fall in love."

"What?! Why? I have a life! I can't just not fall in love!" I yelled.

"It will be bad for the company." Mom replied.

Why do they get to fall in love? How come I can't? This is too unfair.

"We get to marry each other since your mother owned another famous company. It was good for the press. And Zepto. Better yet, we love each other." Dad answered reading my mind.

"I'll think about it." I said walking out the room. It was my dream to have to company. But how do I tell them about Brad? My new boyfriend. Looks like I will get both dreams. I chuckled evilly as I went back to my room.

I texted Brad to meet me at Nandos as I grabbed my bag.

"Mom! Dad! I'll go to Nandos." I yelled going to the door. Mom and Dad nodded back as I shut the door.

I finally got to the restaurant and hugged Brad. I kissed his cheek as we went to the booth.

"Hey babe." Brad said. I chuckled as I ordered my food.

Two months later...

"Your dating that boy?!" Dad yelled. I winced.

"You promised the deal!" Mom yelled back.

"How can I not have one?" I replied.

"That's it! Your grounded from seeing him for a year!" Mom and Dad said in unison.

"But Dad! Mom!"

"This is too big of a risk Sweetie! You need to learn your lesson." Mom said storming out as dad followed.

I screamed as I hit the table. Okay, ow. I was furious. They are so unfair! I deserve a better life!

Back to present.

Ah, how childish I was. I would've broken up with Brad after the deal. The company is clearly more important than that hobo.

I frowned at the thought of the article. I wiped my tears away as I lay down at my bed. What are people gonna think of me tomorrow. I, of course, weirdly went back to sleep at the middle of breakfast.
