The dragonet led her through the mountains, and they descended towards the Skywing palace. Apparently, her name was Cloud. She was a young dragonet, a little over three years old. And now here I am, leading her to danger she should never see.
"So, what's the plan?" Cloud asked. She was above Ivy and a bit ahead, looping in the sky and letting out squeals of delight.
"Well, I was hoping I could just walk right up to her and tell her what I want her to hear, and nobody would care since I was with you." She admitted. Cloud yelped with surprise.
"That's not a plan! That's a wish list! My parents burned my list for my birthday!" She added, not with a hint of sorrow. "We have to think this through. Skywings might kill a Seawing just wandering into our territory. The alliance isn't forged yet." She had to raise her voice a lot just so Ivy could hear her.
She shifted her weight onto one wing uncomfortably when Cloud said "Seawing". She wasn't exactly a Seawing. She was a Rainwing-Seawing. That would probably make things worse. What would the Skywings do to her? Interrogate her for information? Lock her away in the dungeons? Hurt her? Or worse? She didn't want to think about it like that.
"Well...I don't know. Do you have a plan?" Ivy replied.
"I've been thinking of one and it's so AWESOME that we don't even NEED a PLAN!" She flung out her wings dramatically, and only managed to fall clumsily from the clouds. Ivy rolled her eyes.
"That's...not a good plan. Let's think," She scrunched up her snout in deep thought. "How bout this? I could get a Skywing disguise and we could go in there like normal dragonets. You could lead me to wherever her throne room is."
Cloud was shaking her head. "Where would you get a Skywing disguise?"
This was it. Her secret was in her own claws. What options did she have? Option one...tell Cloud her secret. Option two...go hide under a mountain and give up.
Ivy took a deep breath. "I have one right here." She landed on a smooth rock, her talons brushing the stone. She flared open her wings, and closed her eyes.
Her scales rippled, changing from the pale green to vibrant orange. She lined her underbelly with glinting red scales. She finished with a yellow band around her eyes, and hid her ruff. "This is the best disguise I've got."
Cloud barreled into her, wings outstretched. "You're a Rainwing? What are you doing here? Why are you trying to find Queen Ruby?" She flung her talons over her snout. "To assassinate her?! Oh, no! You know about the Skywing alliance now! Gah! I'll have to lock you up or something! We can't let this information go out! Your a spy!"
Ivy closed her wings over herself, her scales turning grey. "Wait, no, that's not true. I'm not a spy. I'm not here to kill your Queen. The truth is...well...you're going to have to sit down for this. I have a lot to tell you."
