"There is power in you,"
Lance told as he continued to trace shapes into the palm of Keith's hand—despite the burning sensation in his fingertips that only seemed to be getting hotter.
"Think of a river—how it flows. Think of the streams and the way they stem off into other bodies of water."

Keith's eyes were closed tight; eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
"Now imagine that you are the river. Your arms are streams with water flowing through slowly. Your hands...are...dams. Your hands are dams that stop the water from flowing to the other side. Keith, you need to push the water to the other side—past the dam."
Lance pushed his thumb into the palm of Keith's hand.
"Try to flow your power through your arms and out of your hands. Keep your eyes closed; just feel it."

Keith took a few deep breaths, relaxing the muscles in his face as he tried to feel the power in him. He sat there on his knees waiting for something to happen; waiting to feel something. Anything.

After a minute or two, he wasn't really sure which, he poked a curious eye open. Lance was sitting across from him, legs crossed and his snow-colored hand still in the other's tree-bark colored one.

"It didn't work," Keith started "I didn't feel anything."
Lance scratched the back of his neck while he thought.
"Well," he paused collecting his thoughts,"how do you feel inside?" Keith tilted his head in a confused manner. 'Kinda cute' Lance thought to himself, observing how the velvety black hair falling over Keith's shoulder, contrasted perfectly with his big soft lavender purple eyes.
"How do you feel deep down—in your soul."
Keith looked down at his knees that peaked out from under his robe. His small hands tightened around the hem of his dressing, biting his lip slightly, looking down.
"I...I don't know, Lance." He said, his voice a soft whisper. The smaller males eyebrows were furrowed in distress, eyes glistening with sorrow.

"That's alright," Lance told him, his voice soothing. The taller male placed his cold hands over Keith's fists, making them unclench as he looked up. "I didn't know at first, either." "R-Really?" "Yeah. I didn't know how the channel my powers; I thought they were a curse." Lance stated, "But now I know how to control them. How to not cause floods when I lose my temper. How to make phenomenons of ice!" He told, proud of what he learned and achieved. Keith looked at him as he talked, noticing the way his nose scrunched up when he thought of something distasteful, the way his eyes lit up talking about his good abilities. He looked into Lance's Royal blue eyes wondering how he looked through those eyes. How much longer would it be until Lance realized that he was a monster? How much longer would he stay after? He didn't see any hatred in the deep blue eyes that belonged to his new friend, but Keith knew soon enough there would be. For now he'd just enjoy the way the other looked at him with kindness and joy; enjoy the way he smiled at him even though Keith probably been staring too long. Enjoy the way he wasn't afraid of touching him or being near.
"What's wrong?" Lance asked.
Enjoy the way he was afraid for him and not of him.
"Nothing," Keith's smiled reaching his eyes.
Enjoy the bliss that lives in the moment between them.
"I'm fine."
He's sure going to miss him when he's gone.
