Mabel opens her eyes and her body seems to be a bit painful because it's been thrown like trash over the floor just like Zoe's clothes and wasn't moved a bit throughout the whole night, she rubs her eyes, sitting over the cushions.
The laptop is kept shut and besides Zoe was heavily sleeping. Mabel squints when she glances at the window. Dragging the curtains open, she sees a dark shaded view but still a preview of early dawn. The digital clock, kept at the study desk, displays 5: 46, she sits over the bed, recollecting most of the things that happened yesterday and so a list of tasks adds to her brain.
The first thing that struck her mind is to get rid of Skyler's shirt. A shiver runs down her spine, she spent a whole single night in his shirt. She never actually felt comfortable sleeping in any other cloth besides her sweatshirt or jumpers or any oversize T-shirt of hers.
She doesn't remember when they fell into a deep sleep. The second task of her would be to take a bath or just rush at home, probably because, she's gonna skip school for the wedding so there's no hurry.
There's no new message in her inbox from Skyler. she sighs, wondering, he was again just teasing her.
Outside the window, the glowing bright shades push the darkness higher, she smiles knowing that, it's been like so many months of not waking up to this bright morning. In corner of her mind, she thinks, maybe today is going to be the best day, after all, she's going to skip school and no more bad-boys at least for a day.
Zoe has promised to unnecessarily avoid Dylan and his fellows in school because Mabel won't be there and she thinks, she's going to make another mistake in her absence. Though it is kind of fine, as the girls think, Dylan is far from a gentleman and they know that. Something is very weird is hidden behind him being perfect. Maybe it's a trap to just goof around with Zoe and leave her just like his previous ones. Perhaps, Mabel won't let that happen albeit, she doesn't know how both average height girls going to defeat these amazing editions of boys who all are already heading with their whatever-game-plan.
Zoe drops her home before leaving for school. Mabel walks inside her house and Marina was cooking a healthy breakfast because she can smell some oatmeal. Thank god, she already had her breakfast at Stewart.
Marina serves oatmeal to John who has already been used to follow his wife's diet routine. Mabel sits on the chair, across to him, "Good morning."
John looks at her, unfolding his napkin "Good morning little pumpkin! But what you doin' here? No school today?"
She picks up a glass and pours some water, tiredly, she mumbles, "I'm not going to school today. I need to go salon for a..." She takes a sip and asks Marina, "Can I go salon later? I need to sleep.... for a little while."
John starts eating and in between, he says, "One day skip is fine. Right, Marina?"
Marina glances at her daughter straight, "Where were you yesterday after the break?" Shit. There has to be Mrs. Rita Anderson's, Mabel's holy math teacher's hand behind this. Marina has received some calls from her before but is surely far from informing them about skipping school.
Mabel keeps her eyes stable from not getting much wider from this sudden morning jolts of shock, "I had stomach cramps.... very badly so I was just reading Novels in the Public Library, whole day... I mean after the break!" She keeps the glass filled partially with water down at the table and reminds herself that she sucks at lying.
"You aren't on your periods." Marina worries, "Did you eat something unhealthy, junks!!" And yea she knows Mabel had her periods two weeks ago. Her excuses for not cleaning her bedroom were having stomach cramps.
