A/N: Hey guys, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to publish this chapter. I've actually had it for a couple weeks, but needed to figure out some things.
I run out of our summer house, and down the sand sifted road. The grains crunch under my flip flops, paired with my new white spaghetti-strap dress. Today was a nice day. The sunshine is out, with no trace of clouds. Just wisps. I adjust my Ray Bans, and continue on my walk into town. I want to shop for Sophia's birthday, because we came earlier than last year. Her birthday is tomorrow, and my parents and I planned a party.
I watch everyone around me; joggers, early-birds who have been here for hours, swimmers, and tourists cloud everywhere. I smile to myself. It's strange how everyone is so different. I've experience this first-hand. In what feels like seconds, I find myself in the beginning of the long stretch of town. First off my list, a gift.
I look at every store around me, than spot someone who makes my heart skip a beat.
Chase.
I have trouble breathing. Is this normal? Go talk to him, right? Wrong, I run. Righht onto my face. Ouch.
"Woa, are you alright?" Of course, I find myself in the same situation I was before.
Look up, you idiot!
I look up, right into his eyes. The green-grey eyes I fell in love with. He hasn't recognized me yet.
He helps me up, and I wipe off my dress. Pressing my lips together, I decide to say something.
"You don't remember?"
He looks confused. "Sorry?"
I take off my sunglasses, than meet his eyes again.
Shock immediately enters his face. "Ally?"
I look at the ground, than back at him. "It's good to see you."
"Yeah, it's really good to see you. Can- can we go somewhere to talk?"
I glance at my shoplist. I've got all day. "Sure."
We go ,crazy or not, to our pier. I hesitate, touching the cool wood with my fingertips. A smile finds it's way to my face, and I look at Chase.
"This.."
He smiles. "I know."
I place my hands behind my back, and lean lightly against the post. He mirrors me.
"So, how have you been?"
"Good, you?"
I cock my head. "Chase, we don't have to do this. Not us."
"Do what?" He says, as he looks out along the water.
"Small-talk."
He lets out a rocky breath, and finally meets my eyes. "Can we talk about what happened between us?"
"Do you want to know why I broke up with you?"
He nodded, still not breaking his gaze on me.
"Mia, that girl that stayed with us? She told me you were cheating on me with her."
I thought about it."I was stupid. I should've asked you. We could've avoided all of this." I say, gesturing to everything around me.
He didn't say anything, but looks suddenly angry. "You should've trusted me!"
"I didn't know what to believe!"
He smirks. "Yeah, well it obviously didn't take you long to get over it."
"What are you taking about?" I demand.
"I saw you last year in town! Walking with a guy! It obviously didn't take you long to get over us."
I gape, and try to rack my brain. It came. "That was my cousin."
He snorts. "Mm hm."
Becoming suddenly angry, I grab my wallet and look through it. Finding a picture of Kyle, I showed him. He was wearing his army uniform.
"He's my cousin. I'm not lying."
He looks at the picture, and his face softens. "Whatever."
Throwing my arms up, I protest. "Whatever? I waited for you to call me when we broke up! If you thought it was easy for me to move on, your wrong. Two weeks, Chase. I went two weeks without you, and I was a mess."
"You said you never wanted me to talk to you again!"
"Oh please, all girls say that."
He steps forward. "I'm sorry."
I studied his face, and saw pure honesty. I saw his eyes, the brown- blonde hair that was messy-on-purpose.
He understands. Putting out his hand, Chase flashes his teeth. "Even though this is totally cliche.. Hi I'm Chase."
I laugh, doing the same. "Ally." Our hands touch, and the warm of his and my own envelope into each other.
"So, do you always fall into guys arms?" He says, motioning over to the familiar log.
I cover my face, and start to chuckle. "What can I say? I'm a clumsy one."
The corners of his lips softly tug upwards. "Yes, you are."
He holds out his hand, and I return the gusture. We walk along the beach, talking and laughing about all of the things we missed. Friendship is always the beginning to the next step. Something tells me that this is what we needed. At that moment, I realized I was thankful for Mia's stunt. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have become stronger, and I most importantly, wouldn't have this precious moment of new beginnings.
Yes Kyle. We are still getting over obstacles. But sometimes, you have to get over things, to reach the light. Cliche.
Thus the beginning of a new era of happiness.
