Chadwick's P.O.V.
Anderson, South Carolina. It's been a long time since I've been in my hometown. With all the movies and press tours I've been apart of, I haven't had moments to link up with my family and old friends. At times it feels like I live on an airplane and vacation in the back of a suburban. The occasional talks on the phone with my mother and siblings just didn't suffice. I'm eager to go back to the place that shaped me and that made me who I am. Amazingly, my family reunion is happening. Which is the perfect opportunity for me to escape.
The world of Hollywood has become a pain in my ass.
I cleared my entire schedule to make sure I could make it back to the place I love and the people who shaped me.
After a long plane ride across the country and a much shorter commute to my parent's home, I was back in the place I hold close.
I thanked my driver for grabbing my bags out of the car and sent him to a hotel for the weekend with a big tip.
I took one look at my parent's house and sighed a sigh of relief. One sniff of that good 'ole country air and I felt a thousand times better.
"Good to be home," I smiled.
Before I could step foot on the dirt driveway, my mom burst passed the screen door with the biggest smile.
"Chadwick! I'm so happy you made it, baby!" she hummed happily while she embraced me in a much needed hug and kissed my cheek.
"Hey, mama. I missed you,"
"We missed you too," she smiled and pulled away, "And you made it just in time to help us get the food over to the hall for the reunion. Tell your brothers to help you put your bags in your old room and then come down to the kitchen to load the truck with the food. We gotta love fast," she ordered as we walked inside.
Over the next ten minutes, I greeted my brothers and father and had time to get reacquainted with my old room.
I reminisced over the posters of my favorite basketball players and my several drama awards from high school. Here and there I had unopened action figures and sports collectors cards.
"Hey, my old yearbook," I smiled happily at the hardcover book holding all of my old high school memories inside.
I laughed at the old drama club photos and pics from school plays. Then, I came across my graduating class photos.
"Man! Look at Kevin! He probably still got them thick ass glasses," I laughed to myself. Too bored to deal with the other thousand photos, I flipped to the superlatives.
My eyes scrutinized the pages of photos and my eyes and heart stopped when I saw her.
Y/N. Sitting next to me at the school fountain, both of us smiling at each other like we weren't getting our picture taken. Probably never even noticed the camera anyways.
The caption: CUTEST COUPLE
I sighed and flopped down on the she of my bed, still focused on the beautiful picture of her.
Y/N...She was my best friend growing up. We lived down the road from one another and our families were very close.
I remember our elementary school days where we were dragged to church together in her family's van, all of us in our Sunday best. She and I would just talk about whatever came to mind. Mostly complaining about our uncomfortable outfits or how much we hated church. Being the youngest kids at service, we promised we'd sit next to each other everytime so that we wouldn't be lonely or bored. Usually meaning whispering to each other and earning plucks and pops for talking during the sermon.
