Warning, somewhat emotional chapter. I cried while writing this. (You probably won't cry, I just have a tender heart and know more about Ronnie's past.)
I woke up, my breathing was fast, and the sound of rain hitting the roof gave me a slight headache. I rolled out of the bed, and started walking to my desk, jumping when I heard the thunder.
Once I reached my desk I sat down and opened one of the drawers. I pulled out the knife I found that one day and admired it. The thunder rolled again and the room flashed purple blue.
"If I ever see you again you'll end up just like him."
I gasped and dropped the knife. I quickly looked towards Remington to see he was still asleep. I picked up the knife and returned it to the drawer.
I got up and walked out of the room, to the laundry room. The washer was done so I pulled Rem's clothes out and put them in the dryer, starting it.
I walked to the kitchen and fixed myself a glass of milk then chugged it. I looked out the window to see someone standing in my garden. I couldn't tell who it was because they had a hood on.
I shook the chills off that had caused goose bumps and walked back to my room. When I went in I looked at my clock to see it was exactly three in the morning. I closed the door behind me and flopped down on one of my bean bag chair.
The thunder rolled again.
"Veronica, put the knife down. We know you're mad but this, this won't solve anything."
I grabbed my laptop and plugged my headphones into it. I sat there and watched Supernatural on Netflix, blocking out the thunder.
After watching two episodes I turned my laptop off and set it on the ground. I got up and went into the landry room. The dryer had stopped and I opened it up and checked to see if Rem's clothes were dry. They were so I took them out and folded them then carried them back the room.
I placed them on my desk and started walking towards the bed.
The thunder rolled, pounding against my head.
I walked down to the small creek in the woods where I would hang out often. My mom had pissed me off again and I had to escape, so here I am.
I sat down on the bank of the creek and watched the water flow down stream, carrying leaves and sticks along with it.
"Hey, I thought I told you not to come back here," the voice of Abraham Heltings said and I turned to look at the old man. "Come here, I want to show you something," he said.
I got up and followed him to a hole.
"Now look in there," he said and I did.
I fell backwards in shock, seeing the body of a boy younger than me. "I-is he dead," I asked, unable to look away from the hole.
"Yeah, and do you want to know what happened to him," he said, crouching down next to me. "He was trespassing on my property."
I shot up and started backing away from the old man. "If I ever see you again you'll end up just like him," he said and I started running.
Next thing I know I'm in a hospital. In my hand was a knife. I walked down the hallway, hiding the knife from passing doctors and nurses.
For some reason I was extremely angry. I turned and walked into a room with a sign above it that said visiting.
I seen my mom sitting in a chair along with my aunt Clarise. A doctor shut the door and I sat in front of of them.
"Hi honey, the doctor said your improving," my mom spoke sweetly.
"How am I improving. I want to kill people," I said and my mom frowned, a few tears in her eyes.
"I know darling," she said and reached for my arm.
"You should have never put me in here," I said.
"I know you don't want to be in here, but you need it," Aunt Clarise said.
I shot up, holding the knife towards them in a threatening way. "You hurt me!"
My mom, alarmed, spoke, "Veronica, put the knife down. We know you're mad but this, this won't solve anything." She and my aunt backed up a little.
I let out a pain filled scream and fell to the floor, dropping the knife.
I opened my eyes to bright light and blurry faces .
"She's awake," one said, a female voice.
"Ms. Damicks, can you here me," the other spoke, a male voice.
I slowly and weakly nodded, or at least I think I did.
"Okay, good, can you see us," the male voice said and I tried lifting my arms, but failed.
"Blurry," was all I was able to get out, even that sounding weak.
"Okay, well we need you to stay with us Ms. Damicks," the female one spoke and I nodded.
The blurriness continued getting worse and worse as I tried to stay awake. Eventually I was out again, it was out of my control.
"Miss Damicks, stay awake," Mr. Ancha called out and people started laughing.
"Ronnie, it's time for bed, be a good example for Aiden and Allison so they can be good examples for the baby in your moms tummy," my dad said, kissing my head.
"Have we met," Remington asked.
