~Broken hearts and company creates friendships~

"Lyn, what are you doing here?" Ace inquired, astonished to see the brunette.

"This is my friend's house. Remember, I told you I was going to a girl's night out?" She recalled. "Anyway, what are you doing dressed as a delivery boy?"

As if struck with recollection of his position, Ace bashfully scratches his cheek. "I'm uh...doing a solid for a friend. He had a hot date but couldn't leave on time for his reservation until he delivered the last batch of pizza."

Lyn puts her hands on her hips, bemused. "So you're posing as him? You can get in a lot of trouble for that." She pinches his cheek, passive-aggresively while reprimanding to oaf. "Then blondie and I are gonna have to bail you out for impersonation."

Ace swats her hand away. "You don't have to baby me. I'm well aware of the consequences." He argued.

"So?"

"So I chose to take the job cause I owed the guy." He rubs his sore cheek. "It would be wrong not to consider what Pops has taught us to repay debts and keep our word." He emphasized, irritating the girl. Their banter was similar to that of siblings. Mean yet playful.

Lyn reluctantly caves in and groans, "Ugh, I hate it when you use Pop's principles against me." Ace smirks victoriously. "Just be careful, or you'll get an earful from all of us." She threatened. "Your odd jobs are gonna be the death of us one day."

You raise your brows, perplexed by the last bit.

"Yeah...well, here. You're my final customer." He hands over the boxes tinged with a hint of sadness in the male's eyes. In a better lighting, you catch a glimpse of his baggy eyes much like yours. You wondered if he's a restless individual.

'Wait, what do I care?' You internally facepalm disapprovingly. You have no energy to care for another even though it's in your nature to help folks who need it.

"Do I get a discount?" She cooed. Your instant thought is lewd. You didn't want to stand in an awkward situation than you have to. It's best to take your leave now before it gets weird.

"Let me see." He hummed. "For my old lady sister and a beautiful babe? I believe I can make an exception." He steals a glance your way, causing you to blush.

'This guy is so cheesy. Wait, did he say sister? Did he just call me beautiful?' You internally freaked out.

Lyn jabs Ace's arm. "Knock it off, freckles. She's going through a rough time."

"Oh, shit. I'm sorry." You shake your head suggesting it's fine. "In that case, Pizza is on the house."

"Wh-what? No!" You objected. "You'll get your friend fired and then get in trouble."

Ace smiles, content to hear your concern over him, a total stranger. "You don't have to worry. I have it under control." He assured.

"Yep, freckles may not look it, but he's responsible." Lyn stuffed herself with a slice of pizza, unfazed by her brother's glare.

"Yes, so please enjoy yourselves." He gently pats your head. Strangely, the contact chases away your woes as though you're inclined to easily trust him. You don't understand the foreign feeling, but it's welcoming from the crap you've been dealing with.

Lyn watches in awe to see two people who are hurting and be compassionate to one another. A clever idea surfaces in her head. "Since you're done with work, why not join us? If that's ok?"

You step away from Ace and accept. "I-I don't mind."

"Sure, I can join. I just have to return the car." He said.
