For the past couple of weeks, Em and I, we've been working on building our relationship back up. To be more specific I've been trying to gain her trust again. It has been a slow journey but I feel like I'm finally getting it back. We've been on Thanksgiving break for the past week, but we haven't really hung out as much as I would've liked to, even though we talk on the phone even then I feel her distancing herself from me. I'm hoping today will be better, it's Thanksgiving and my family is having dinner at their house, some of the perks of living next to your girlfriend.
I decided to wear a navy blue jeans with a dress shirt. I go downstairs and I help my mom carry the groceries since my dad is holding the dessert. Mark opens the door for us standing by the door as we walk through, I go over to the kitchen and put the groceries on their counter. As soon as I look around the room I notice Em is nowhere to be seen.
"Hey Rachel, where's Em?" I ask after I hug her.
"Oh, she's upstairs probably finishing getting ready" Immediately a smile comes into my face for no reason at all, that's what she does to me. I start to walk up the stairs and I hear distant chatter which I'm positive is coming from Sophia's room so I'm guessing Oscar is here. I stand outside her door, I've knocked twice but no answer. I knock one more time before opening the door, confused as to why the room is empty I walk inside to find Em laying down on her floor opposite side of the bed you can see when you walk in. She looks beautiful as always wearing a maroon long sleeve shirt with a back skirt and black tights, she's sleeping holding onto a picture frame which seems to be of her parents and her. I slowly take the picture away trying not to wake her, I place the picture on her nightstand. I place an arm around her back and the other one on the bend of her knees to pick her up bridal style. I lay her down on the bed while I grab a cover neatly folded on her bay window as I unfolded it and cover her with it. I see an almost dried up tear on her cheek, I wipe it away leaving my hand on her cheek longer than I meant, kissing her on her forehead before leaving. I walk downstairs and join my dad and Mark on the couch to watch a football game as much as I prefer lacrosse, I enjoy watching it.
"Where's Emma?" Mark asks me as soon as I sit down.
"She's asleep" Mark nods in approval so all three of us keep watching the game.
Emma's POV
I wake up oddly comfortable for sleeping on the floor but I soon realize I'm in my bed, how the heck did I get on my bed. I look at myself in the mirror and something is different about my self but I can't figure out what. I brush it off and head downstairs, as I walk down the stairs I hear more voices than what they're supposed to be, so I'm guessing Matt and his parents are here which explains why I woke up in bed. I get down from the last step of the stairs.
"There's the sleepyhead," Rachel says and I chuckle, I noticed Matt turns around from watching the game and it seems like he is going to get up so I tell him to stay put I'll be right there. I hug Clarissa then I walk over the couch to hug Matt's dad, Daniel. I head towards where Matt is sitting and bend down so where eye level.
"Hello, there my sleeping beauty," he says even after all this time he still knows how to wake up my butterflies.
"Hey, there my prince" I reply which makes him laugh I reach down and peck him on his lips.
"Enjoy the game," I say giving him one more peck because why not.
I walk back to the kitchen to help with Thanksgiving dinner.
"Hey Emma, I haven't seen you since you came over to ask me if you can take Matthew for his birthday" Clarissa said.
"Yeah I know" I reply
