Chapter 26

Emma's POV

Even if to me it feels like the accident was yesterday, I'm able to feel the difference when I slept in my own bed. Sophia and Matt were going to get my assignments that I need to make up to be able to not fall behind but I really want to see the rest of the group so I told them I would go and come back in an uber or something. I wear black jeans with a grey sweater and a maroon beanie to cover up the semi-shaved part of my head from the surgery. I slowly walk down the stairs still feeling the sting from my healing ribs, I know I should be in bed but it wouldn't hurt if I just walk around for today as long as I don't make any sudden movements. Down the stairs, I'm met with Sophia.

"Come hurry, we're leaving early so I can drive you back" she grabs her keys from the counter.

"Oh I was just going to..." she doesn't let me finish

"No, I'm not letting you be cared for by a stranger now come on" she comes closer to me, putting her arm around my back to help me go down the stairs and walk, the pain was there but bearable.

As soon as Sophia parks the car Matt is outside my door to help me out, I get to the tree where we hang out in the morning and they are all there. Elizabeth notices me first and runs to me and hugs me.

"Ow!" a little too hard of a hug but good none the less

"Sorry" She apologizes after she releases our hug

"It's okay, missed you too" she smiles and soon everyone else comes over to hug me as well and catch me up on what I've missed.

"Not that I'm not happy you're here but aren't you supposed to be in bed rest?" Jessica asks.

"Yeah but I came to get work from the 3 weeks I was absent because I don't want to fall behind and not graduate with you guys and also to see you, talking about my assignments I'll do that right now I'll see you guys later" They wave goodbye and I feel someone beside me and already knowing it's Matt because of his cologne I place my hand with his.

"You didn't have to come with me" A sharp pain occurs on my abdomen, stupid ribs that aren't completely healed, I slow down and hold onto him to regain my posture.

"It seems like I did" he guides me to one of the sitting areas inside the school.

"I need to get my assignments" I try to stand but it starts to hurt again.

"No you don't, but if you really want them I'll get them for you just wait here, you just woke up from a coma take it easy" I huff before he kisses me cheek and leaves to get my work. I grab my phone to distract myself while he's gone.

"Emma...Darling, where have you been" I hesitantly look up to see Brandon in the distance making his way towards me, I didn't plan to confront him today. When he gets close enough he studies the cuts and stitches on my face from the accident.

"What happened?" he dramatically gasps faking his concern.

Seriously, Emma, this is who you fell in 'love' with.

"Car accident" he cracks up after I tell him.

"Do car crashed just follow you everywhere you go? Tell me, did someone else die" he chokes out. All I see is red, I jump out of my seat and onto him feeling the pain on my ribs but I push it aside. Taking him by surprise he falls down with me on top of him I start to punch him as he covers his face and tries to get out but my outburst being a complete surprise gave me the advantage.

"EMMA!" I hear Sophia scream behind me but I don't stop I just feel a pair of arms grab me by my waist and pull me off him. I realize Oscar was holding me while Jeremy and Carlos are holding Brandon back. I try to break from Oscar's grip to punch Brandon some more and scream more names to him but Sophia and Oscar already had me out the door and back to the parking lot.
