Valerie 

Thump, Thump, Thump. My heart is beating so fast I believe it is going to fall out. Tears are leaking down my face as the guy walks away from my limp body, I have cuts, bruises and blood all over me. My whole body hurts, my back feels like it is on fire and is in excruciating pain as the guy used wolfsbane covered whips and weapons to inflict pain on me. 

My torso has a deep wound and is bleeding a lot, I whimper as I try to sit up. I crawl over to the wall and rest my head against the wall, closing my eyes to enter darkness. 

I open my eyes and see a male's figure, he is facing away from me. I go to say something but can't, the guy turns around and my heart thumps  rapidly in my chest. He walks up to me and touches my cheek lightly, my head feels dizzy as I look into his dark, mysterious eyes. He smiles softly at me and I almost faint. I take a small step back and instead of reacting angrily like I thought he would, he let's me go and pulls a blanket out. He sits down and pats the spot next to him, I sit down cautiously, I look up into his beautiful eyes and can see a hint of annoyance and maybe a bit of rejection. 

I try to speak and my voice flows out, "Um what is this?" 

"This, Valerie is a connection, a special thing that not many can have. It allows us to talk without being next to each other or having mated, as you are not ready for that," He explains 

I blush and he smiles. 

"Well I shall come, don't you worry my mate," He promises before vanishing. 

I wake up and breath heavily as my heart is still racing. 

Jax promised he was coming. Let's hope it isn't a lie or a fantasy.

My body hurts as pain floods through me. This has been happening way to often, I punch the boxing bag again, as these images of MY mate getting tormented by a guy flicker in and out of my mind. 

Before you judge me, I do care about Valerie, she is very sweet, caring and strong a combination which means you can't dislike her. I just don't know how to show her, my life isn't picture perfect and I guess that made me react the way I did to Valerie, it wasn't right and Ryder made sure I knew that. He literally told me every time we saw her, he loves both Valerie and Amyra, her wolf. He talks no stop about how amazing our mate is. 

It does get annoying but it is nice, I have never seen him this happy, this excited before. Well currently he isn't happy or excited but very blood thirsty, he has been going crazy since Valerie was taken. 

So did you do it? Did it work? Ryder shouts annoyance in his voice 

Yes it worked, now calm down or I won't tell you how she was I command 

Hmph fine, you know I am only calming down cos of her not you he replies gruffly 

Yeah, yeah I know how much you love her I really do I tease lightly 

Really? Are you 7, cos if so go back from where you came from like a good little boy He replies back teasingly 

I chuckle at his response, yeah we are nearly complete opposites but get along like 2 peas in a pod. 

Can you tell me now! He asks impatiently 

Yeah, so she didn't look to good, she was very cautious of me but she still seemed to have hope for us I sigh as everything I have done to her flashes through my mind, courtesy of Ryder. 

Sorry bro, but you really did hurt her and you know she has been hurt so much. You need to be careful or else I will be taking over completely, she is strong but needs a safe place just once in her life. Ryder explains softly 

I am sorry, but I can't let myself love her not right now I reply sadly, regret flooding every sense of mine as my mate comes to mind. 

I get it, I really do I was there as well you know. But I had to be good for the both of us, I have always got your back you know right? He says firmly 

I know, thanks Ry I reply 

Cool, well what's the plan cos we are killing whoever has hurt our mate He growls threateningly in my head 

Okay we are going to talk to our mate again and hopefully she can tell us where she is and who has her. Then we storm in, kill some people and are out of there with Valerie. I reply energised 

Sweet, but can I talk to Valerie this time? he questions excitably 

Yeah sure  I answer and go back to punching the boxing bag.
