Three days. It had been three days since she last saw Shadow..

Light woke with the sun as it rose the next morning, the first beams pouring into her room. She learned her ability to wake so easily was due to the fact she didn't need sleep as often as others did.

It seemed to be colder, which had Light wrapping a blanket around herself as she made her way to sit on the sofa, curling up in the corner of it with her chin propped atop the back, allowing her to look out the window. Across from her home was Amy's and when she saw the door fly open and then shut again, that indicated the beginning of Sonic's run. He always ran in the morning— he was always running, really. He was often up early too, because there wasn't many others awake to slow him down.

The part Light hated most about waking early was waiting for everyone else to wake. She had no means to busy herself other than to tend to her garden, but there was no work left to be done there. It looked like it had rained, which meant she didn't have to water her flowers. So, she was left sitting there, staring at the rose bushes lining the outside of Amy and Sonic's home. The others would wake soon.

Pressing her palm against the fogged window, Light gasped softly at its coldness and retracted her hand immediately. However, noticing the shape of her palm left behind on the glass, the confused purple hedgehog tilted her head. 'Funny..' She thought, her hand extending outwards again and this time it was her finger to make contact with the window. She wasn't skilled in drawing; she struggled to draw even a simple shape, so she kept to simply drawing short, squiggled lines.

'Cold..'

Like Shadow. Like her home. Like the window and the air seeping through the cracks.

A chill ran down her spine, causing her to sit up straighter and for her to pull her hand back and this time keep it against her chest as she tucked herself back into her blanket. The tip of her finger was damp and cold and she decided she didn't like it.

Her cheek squished against the armrest of her sofa as she laid her head down on it, sinking further into the warmth her blanket offered, inviting her further and further in until only the upper half her face remained exposed to the cold air. It wasn't extremely cold, but Light had yet to experience cold weather. According to Amy, however.. Winter wasn't far away.

Light's head lifted at the sound of a knock at her door, ears flickering as a voice followed,

"Light! Are you awake?"

It was Amy.

Standing, a smile breaking across her face as she swiftly crossed the distance from her sofa to the front door where Amy was waiting. However, upon opening the door, Light's expression sunk immediately.

There were wet tracks down Amy's cheeks, even though she was smiling too. She'd been crying and even now, there were fresh tears welling up in her eyes. This, of course, worried Light and she tugged gently on Amy's arm to bring her into her home and out of the wet and cold, closing the door behind her.

"Amy? What is the matter?" Asking softly, Light guided Amy towards the sofa and the two sat. Amy allowed Light to lean into her side, nuzzling against her shoulder in attempt to provide the pink hedgehog comfort.

Amy, on the other hand, seemed to giggle. "Oh, Light. I have the most wonderful news."

A frown appearing on the purple one's face, confused at how Amy could sound so happy yet be in tears at the same time, she spoke, "You sound very happy, yet you seem so sad.. I am having trouble understanding.."
